I am a "Snow Bird" that flew south and nested! Originally from Toledo, OH, I came to central Florida in 1993. My interest in ham radio began in Puerto Rico. I lived there for nearly 4 years, arriving shortly after hurricane Hugo. It had devastated the eastern tip of the island. The ham radio people helped keep things going smoothly. In the spring of2012, I was at the Sun n' Fun Flyin where I found a group of ham operators and discovered a repeater association in my area, LWRA.com. I joined in June, earned my tech license in July, and my general in Sept. I am impressed by and grateful for all the help and support I have received from the hams in my area. They are a wonderful group. In fact, a couple of the guys came and put up an antenna for me. New Years Day 2013, I made my first HF contact, so it was an exciting day for me. I have an ICOM 751 with an 80m inverted V antenna.

Now I have another accomplishment to add. I passed my Extra test on Valentine's Day 2013. I was elated and a little surprised, it was a difficult test. I still have a great deal to learn, but I am enjoying my journey as a ham radio operator.

Besides ham radio, I am an avid gardener, a cross-stitcher, classical pianist, and susquatch hunter. Weather is another facination of mine, so I joined the Skywarn team. I enjoy traveling and try to take a major trip every few years. I usually travel with one or both of my sons, but I do occasionally set off on my own to some interesting destination.
