Howdy and thanks for looking me up on QRZ.I am now living in Silver City, NM….one home of “Billie the Kid”!!We are located 5 miles from the Continental Divide at 6200 feet elevation. We live close to the Gila National Forest and our QTH is frequented by deer, rabbits, a tremendous variety of birds, and occasionally by mountain lions, javelina, and a stray ham looking for a cup of coffee. The attached picture of Silver City taken about 1/4 mile from our current QTH.

Silver City, New Mexico, weather forecast

I grew up back east; born in Pittsburg, PA and went to school in Western NY.I was first introduced to Amateur Radio by my Uncle Russ, N2ASV(SK), who used to sit me down on his lap at the radio. In 1991, I got my license with his encouragement. After starting my career as an Electrician and a Power Company “pole climber” in NY, I headed out west to work as an electrician for a Gypsum Quarry. From there, it was on to my current QTH where I work for a Copper Mine doing electrical and instrumentation work.It was here that I recently upgraded to General and then to Extra.

My wife Suzie and I enjoy RVing and fishing. Woodworking, building computers and making stain glass windows occupy much of my spare time away from work.I recently built a new Ham Shack by carving an 8 x 12 room out of my wood-shop.I often get joined in the shack by the fur-kids, Maxine(SK) and Morgan seen in the picture above.

I enjoy HF on a FLEX 3000 or if I feel like turning knobs, the stand-by Kenwood TS-140 is always available.I currently operate barefoot into one of two wire antennas, or my new (NA4RR) hex beam atop my also new 40' tower. The picture below shows my brother, Ken (KS2R), helping me with one of the wire antenna installations and Hex Beam.

Thanks for visiting! Catch you down the log!
