I was first introduced to Ham Radio by my college roommate AB5E, who coached me through to my Novice license, KA9MCV, WAY back in 1981. Once I saw how much fun radio was, I decided that this was what I wanted to do for a living. Following graduation, I wandered east to Baltimore Maryland, where I spent 5 years at Westinghouse Electric helping design multi-kilowatt LF and VLF transmitters. It was there that I upgraded to KC3ZQ in 1986. Following this, I found myself in Quincy, Illinois, working at Broadcast Electronics, designing their current line of AM broadcast transmitters. A new opportunity lured me to Harris Broadcast, where I spent 4 years designing AM and Shortwave Broadcast equipment. From 1996 to 2003, I was at Methode Electronics in Carthage, Illinois, designing automotive sensor circuitry. In July of 2003 I moved to Williamsburg, Virginia to work for Siemens VDO on automotive electronics design. As of February 2007, I'm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, working in W0CXX's old shop.

Formerly held calls include NE4AM and AI9E. I picked up my new call 'NM0S' as a tribute to all the N-channel MOSFETs who have met their demise at my hands...

I'm a member of QRPARCI, GQRP, ARRL, AMI, RSGB, 4SQRP, the Collins ARC, Cedar Valley ARC, IA QRP Club, etc. I do a lot with Mount Vernon's Boy Scout Troop 40, teaching Radio Merit badge and setting up the JOTA station.  We now have our own Amateur Radio Club, with call letters WN0BSA.

My radio related interests include high-performance crystal radio design, LW monitoring, BCB DXing, AM QRO and CW QRP, Class-E power amplifiers, regenerative receivers, antenna design, and vintage equipment.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at Four Days In May, QRPARCI's convention at the Dayton Hamvention.

Breaking news:  Mount Vernon Iowa's Boy Scout Troop 40 now has an amateur radio club - WN0BSA.  Look for us on the air!
