  • I will listen, and listen, and then listen again before calling.
  • I will only call if I can copy the DX station properly.
  • I will not trust the DX cluster and will be sure of the DX station's call sign before calling.
  • I will not interfere with the DX station nor anyone calling and will never tune up on the DX frequency or in the QSX slot.
  • I will wait for the DX station to end a contact before I call.
  • I will always send my full call sign.
  • I will call and then listen for a reasonable interval. I will not call continuously.
  • I will not transmit when the DX operator calls another call sign, not mine.
  • I will not transmit when the DX operator queries a call sign not like mine.
  • I will not transmit when the DX station requests geographic areas other than mine.
  • When the DX operator calls me, I will not repeat my call sign unless I think he has copied it incorrectly.
  • I will be thankful if and when I do make a contact.
  • I will respect my fellow hams and conduct myself so as to earn their respect.

Thanks for visiting my QRZ page.  I was first licensed in Oct 2009, as a General.  The DX bug got me and I upgraded to Extra Class in Nov. 2011. From July 2013 though October 2016 I accecpted a positon in S. Korea and moved with the family over there.  I operated as HL1ZAI for 3 years.  It was fun, operating from the "Other Side" of the DX contact and I obtained my DXCC from Korea in 9 months.  Upon returning to the home QTH in Oct 2016, my main goal was to get the home station back up and operational with many planned improvements.   My main interest are DXing and building all of my own antenna's and amplifiers.   I can normally be found someplace on 40 meters in the morning and evenings.

Ham Shack Retrofit
Below is a series of pictures taken during my Shack Retrofit.
I'm finally happy with the layout.
I've built in RF Patch panels, and can now run 3 stations at the same time.

Building the bases outside, hope they fit through the door....

Bases moved indoors and stained a nice dark blue.

Have the funiture grade maple plywood on the bases, stained and finshed.

Here's a picture of the main operating console.
All of the main equipment is in place, grounding is completed and all of RF connections are done.  The new OM Power 2000+ Amplifier has been received and is running like a champ.

Heres a full view of the new shack, with the work area on the left.
The work area also includes it's own RF patch panel, microphone/headset audio lines and radio/amplifier key lines, and can be switch to a 2nd and 3rd operating positions in just a few minutes.

Heres a full view of the cable entrance panel on the inside of the shack.

To install I core drilled 2 4 inch holes through the 8 inch solid block.  I used 12 inch PL259 barrel connectors for the RF feeds.  It's currently set up for 5 RF connections and can be expanded to 7.  The rotor and control cables come through a 1 3/4 inch conduit pipe through the same plate.  There are 4 8 conductor rotor cables and a 25 pair control cable for the coax switches and other items outside that need to be controlled.  Connections on the outside are 2 runs of 3/4 inch heliax and 2 runs of 1/2" heliax, that all go to a central point out in the antenna field, and then fed to one of the 4 towers.
