Central Michigan Emergency Network is a group of privately owned and operated repeaters in mid Michigan linked on a voluntary basis. Our main goal is to have a reliable system to talk on and for everyone to enjoy and use, that covers Michigan and parts of Ohio, Indiana and even Canada.

While regularly used for normal amateur radio traffic, this repeater system’s first priority is to always be available for emergency purposes. When needed, the repeaters branch off for local and state emergencies. We work with the local and state law enforcement agencies to increase communications in order to help coordinate when needed in a crisis. We also work with the National Weather Service during weather emergencies. Skywarn is an important part of local weather forecasting. Most of the operators are trained weather spotters, this too is done voluntarily and is also an out of pocket expense.

This is all done out of pocket by the individual owners of the linked system. No dues are asked for, this is NOT a club system. Nevertheless, running a system of this size and range ability does not come without cost. All repeaters are owned and maintained by their owners. Costs can include repairs, equipment upgrades and utility expenses.

We have repeaters on 6 meters, 2 meters, 220mhz, 440mhz and 900mhz. We also have the only linked system in the state with Echolink and irlp nodes.

Our main goal is to have a reliable system to talk on and for every one to enjoy and use, that covers Michigan and beyond. Please use the system, it’s there for everyone to enjoy.
