I was first licensed as WN9ORW in February of 1955, and have held W9ORW after my Novice and Technician days. While serving as a Radio Operator with the US Army, 541st Signal Company Support, in Pirmesens, Germany, I held the call DL4FN but did most of my operating at MARS station DL4OV. For the last nine years, at the invite of my good friend W1XP, I have been able to operate as P4/W9ORW on the Island of Aruba.  I prefer operating CW (SKCC #686) (FIST #13587) but I have also experimented with some of the other digital modes including WSJT meteor scatter on 2 meters. I occasionally operate SSB, QRP, and 2 meter FM. I also enjoy experimenting with satellites and have worked the Astronauts on the International Space Station. My favorite band is 2 Meters. On HF I prefer 30 Meters. I also operate mobile on 80 through 2 meters. Through the years I have obtained WAS, WAC, DXCC, QCWA and OTC. I could do without the OTC. (HI HI). I have enjoyed Amateur Radio throughout my time in the hobby and owe my success in the working world because of my early interest in Ham Radio. Throughout the years I have met many and established friendships with many Ops in the Ham Community. They have all been a great help. I have worked for General Telephone and Electronics as a Communication Technician, Motorola service shop as a Bench Technician, and United States Steel Corporation as a Electronic Repairman. I am currently retired but work part time as a Consultant. But mostly, however, I owe everything good that has happened in my life from the support of my parents as a “Youngster” and in my latter days support from my late wife Chloe in my “Not so Young” years. I have five special children and fifteen wonderful grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. I am truly a blessed person. 73 to all, Bob W9ORW
