I am retired and living in Rock Hill, SC. The XYL and used to spend a week a month on the road in the motorhome. Have experienced the second happiest day in a motorhome owners life as I sold it recently.  Now,  with the eight grandkids we stay reasonably busy.

I have been hamming since 1964 when I was WA4WXL. My first QTH was Ahoskie, NC. I moved to Poughkeepsie, NY and picked up the 2 call. When I returned to the south, the FCC had stopped changing calls when we moved across zone boudaries and thus, the 2 call. I remembered how difficult it was for me to change calls and I have made no effort to get a new 4 call. Currently, I am active in CDXA, a group of guys who are interested in contesting and DXing. We meet for lunch weekly.  During the week I am at 7030 for CW and 9AM with the Country Hams at7.222 (9 AM).  My first love is CW but I do work phone and some of the digital modes infreuently.

My station is an FT-950 driving a small amp (ALS-600).  I use Ham Radio Deluxe for software control of the rig.  I use four 19 inch displays: one for rig control, one for the logbook, one for panadapter and one for DM780 or other software as needed.  I have mounted a card inside the FT-950 that allows the connection of the SDR/IQ, which is used mostly as a panadapter.  The SDR/IQ creates I/Q output which can be used for many SDR applications.  I use a Signalink USB for the sound card interface between the computer and transceiver for digital modes.  Although the FT-950 has a built in keyer, I have interfaced a K1EL WinKeyer USB to the transceiver.  This allows me to send CW using a keyboard (old age and arthritis have taken their toll and I refuse to give up CW.)  I have recently added an audio DSP unit fron WestMountain (ClrSpeech) and it has been a nice addition to the station.

I retired from IBM in 1996. I spent the next six years working as a consultant and then four years teaching school. I retired for the final timein 2006 and have devoted my time to hamming, honey dos and volunteering. Retirement is great! I heartily reccomend it to everyone.  The only problem I have encountered is having the time to do all the things I want to do.  I guess when I retired my time management retired with me!
