About 1957, a ham in a wheel chair, in Pomona, California, coached me into ham radio.  His name was Eugene Silvey, call W6 or K6COZ,  I think, a member of TCARA.

Ham radio and love of Sciences,  I was tutored in a group, every Saturday morning on physics and astronomy, by a retired missionary in Claremont, California, Dr Rankin, a retired minister and physicist, if memory serves me, or maybe it was Larkin.

In my early youth-hood hamming, thanks to George Tillitson, K6MBL, I was coached into building a 3.6 GHz beer can (polarplexor) radio.  From there at 17, I went to a US Army enlistment, radar, microwave, missile fire control and data communications. Five+ decades later, it has been good.

If you volunteer some, I have tried to, you can help some youth to a great life and career, at least great for him or her. Over 40 years of working for the United States, my own businesses, Networking, teaching, hamming, leading work experience programs and other computer/data related things and Lions, Engineers Without Borders, Red Cross, SCALE, USENIX, UUASC, VC-VOAD, and more, have been a reward in themselves.

My last 28+ years have been in Unix, BSD, BSDI, OS X, Sun, HP, SYSV, Linux, Firewalls, Proxies and Security (past reseller DataFellows, IIS, TIS), Routers (past Cisco reseller, Livingston).

The last 18+ years has included the Navy's Cooperative Engagement and preparing for a technology career for my next life. That is the provisioning of the same technical services, perhaps here or in CentralAmerica.  I enjoy associations, some came from ham radio, from Mexico south, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia, Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Chile. Tengo un poco espanol.

I am a member of Rabbit Radio, Cactus, PAPASYS, ACS/ARES/RACES, Lions Clubs Internationaland would be happy to discuss with others. Talking, counselling or consulting on communications technology are available thru the email address adjacent this bio.

In recent years, I was very sad to lose two fellow hams Alan Burgstahler,WA6AWD, Washingtonand William Hemingway, HP3XBH, Paso Ancho, Chiriqui, Rep. de Panama.

Hope thru hamming, you have / had such a good life. Pass it on.
