************* PJ6A & PJ6/WB0TEV Sept 23-28 2015 ************************************

In late September 2015 I was fortunate enough to join K5AC as a guest op at NM1Y's vacation home on Saba (PJ6).  Our 3 man team operating under the callsign PJ6A broke the previous world record in the CQ WW RTTY contest for M/S Low Power by ~ 600k points!

Outside the contest I made >600 QSOs on 80,40,30,20,17,15,12 and 10m as PJ6/WB0TEV. Most were  RTTY and SSB with a few dozen CW QSO's as well.

QSL for PJ6/WB0TEV is direct, via the bureau or through OQRS on Clublog.  SASE for US return addresses.  For outside the USA, please $2 (preferred) or IRC with SAE.  Sorry no EQSL and I'm not set up for LoTW.  Color QSL cards from UX5UO were placed on order Oct 7, were postmarked 16 Oct and arrived at my QTH on 24 Oct.

On 28 Jan 2016 the PJ6/WB0TEV log was uploaded to Clublog at:

https://secure.clublog.org/logsearch/PJ6/WB0TEV

OQRS was enabled 01 Feb 2016 for those who wish direct or bureau cards that way.

In November 2013 I was blessed to go on a DXpedition to Swaziland with K5LBU, ZS6RJ, VA7DX, VE7DS, VE7MID, ZS6BRZ, W5UQ, DL8JJ, GW4SKA, G8APB, K9APW and KL7GS,   While there we had a terrific windstorm that took down a number of our antennas, some of which we later repaired and pressed back into service.   I shot a fair bit of video over there and posted the storm sequence to YouTube.

The series of 6 below cover that storm from onset to aftermath. Part 5 is the clip that actually has the fall of Hexbeam #4.  Enjoy!

****************************************************************************************************************

I got my novice license in April 1976 as WN0TEV. Got on the air in June of that year after putting together a HeathKit HW-16 with HG10B VFO with a 80/40 dipole. Some of my early Elmer's there in Grinnell Iowa were Darryl Stimpson W0IQJ(SK), Harry Mill WB0AGM (SK), Ron Ridgway (K0ETZ, now W7PHX) and John Wedlock W0ASU who proctored my novice exam. Not long thereafter the FCC decided that novices would no longer have distinctive callsigns and thus became WB0TEV. Went off to LeTourneau college in Longview Texas that fall and operated novice CW from the club station there which at the time held the call K5JEF.

The summer after my freshman year in college I drove up to the FCC office in St. Paul, MN and got my Advanced Class License. I would later upgrade to Extra in 2000.

While in college at LeTourneau I ran a lot of 3rd party traffic for the many missionary kids who were my class mates to their parents in South America on the old Halo and InterAmerican traffic nets that met on 21.390 back in the late 70's.

I began chasing DX seriously in mid 1990's and have achieved DXCC on Phone, CW and RTTY and all bands 80-10 including 30/17/12m.   I finally qualified for the  Honor Roll in 2016.

I engage in some contesting as well, mainly the ARRL Phone Sweepstakes contest and various State QSO Parties.

Since about 2004 I have been a frequent mobile participant in the Texas QSO party, activating 2 to 3 dozen counties in NE Texas the last weekend in September.

73,

Victor
