I've been enjoying this hobby since 1978.

Primary interests are DXing and QRP, mostly CW in both pursuits. I also like to build kits, tinker with antennas and operate from the field.

I plan on operating fairly often in 2018 from an RV activating grid squares.

Lately I've joined the low-banders on 630 meters, a new band for US hams. My set-up is either:

  • Ultimate 3S QRPp transmitter, a WA3ETD 20 watt amplifier
  • Ultimate 3S and G0MRF 300 watt amplifier
  • Flex 6300 and Monitor Sensors 630m transverter

The antenna is a Marconi T antenna (90 feet vertically, 135 feet horizontal top wire). With 1 watt ERP, I've been heard (via WSPR) in 37 states (including KH6), 3 Canadian provinces and the Cayman Islands. Loads of fun - come down to 475 kHz and join us!

Station: Flex 6300 SDR transceiver, KPA500 amplifier, with either a Yaesu FT-891 or Elecraft KX2 for mobile/portable work. Antennas: Force 12 C3E up 45 feet, 80m dipole up 75 feet fed with ladder line and used 30-40-80 meters.

QSLing: I upload all QSOs to LoTW monthly. If you'd like my card, just send me yours and I'll return mine to you via the same method, direct (no sase necessary) or buro.
