I was first licensed in July 1997 as M1CBK and then from November 1999 as M0CRY, after passing the then required 12 WPM Morse Test to gain access to the HF Bands.
I am very Happily married to my wife Dawn, 2E0WTZ, and we live together in Slade Green, North Kent.
We are presently QRV (40m - 70cm) from our Home Shack.
Simple and convenient Transceiver selection is achieved by using 2 of the W2IHY Iplus Switch units + 2 of the W2IHY 3x4 Switch Plus units , along with 2 of the W2IHY 1 X 4 Remote Coax Switches. An external remote mounted Ameritron RCS-8VX, five port Antenna switch is used for final Antenna selection, connected through an Alpha Delta Lightning protection system on each port mounted on a common grounded Buss Bar. The Main Shack feeder for HF + 6M is fed through a grounded Line isolator to prevent RFI problems on the first-floor shack which has no ground connection, all Antenna feeders are grounded externally after the Line Isolator this configuration allows QRO operation with no RF problems in the shack.
Antenna Tuner units selectable are either a manual tune Palstar AT2K or a Palstar HF-Auto both capable of 160m - 6m operation. One of the W2IHY 3x4 Switch plus units makes available to any selected Transceiver either a straight through Bypass connection or a Comet Low-pass Filter (54Mhz) cut off or either a Manual or Automatic ATU selection.
This makes it very easy to select up to any one of 5 Transceivers without the need to swap Audio / Coax / Speaker Amp Key line or Microphones and also makes for a neat and tidy installation.

DMR Operation is available with the Hytera MD-785G UHF Transceiver.
D-Star Operation is available with the Icom IC-7100 Transceiver.
Yaesu Fusion C4FM Operation is available with the FTM-100DE Transceiver.
To connect to Internet-connected Reflectors or Repeaters the station uses and or either a SharkRF openSpot or a Babystar node by ON8JL. This allows the desired Radios to TX using their minimum power settings into connected Dummy loads to provide a short range link to the nodes and to minimise the external range of the Hotspot, with no external antenna required, this also has the advantage of keeping the range of the Hotspot to a minimum and prevents interference to and from other users nearby. The Output from the nodes can be monitored by the Station Receiver which is an AOR AR-DV1 Digital voice receiver which can receive multiple modes in use and can be set to scan the node output frequencies.
The Alpin 100 1.3KW PEP HF + 6M Amplifier with it's single Ceramic Tetrode 4CX-800A (GU-74B) is used for QRO operation up to 26dbW (400W ) when required and is available to any selected Radio. The final Amplifier key control line output from the 3 X 4 Switch is enabled through the LP-100A Digital Vector RF Wattmeter which monitors the line SWR on the output of the Amplifier and will automatically disable the TX control to the Amplifier over a user set SWR value, along with the excellent built-in protection on the Amplifier this prevents damage from either operator error or a sudden external change in antenna / remote switches / ATU settings or feeder condition.
A Heil PR40 Dynamic Microphone is fed into a Behringer QX1002 USB mixer which is then electrically isolated from the following stages using an Ibox the output of which is then fed into the W2IHY 8 Band EQ and EQplus units that provide EQ and level control. The output from the EQplus is then distributed to the selected Transceiver via two connected Iplus units. The Mixer is used to give the option of using a condenser Microphone if required which would require Phantom Power, it also allows the use of the main station Microphone on PC applications due to the USB output built into the Mixer.
Data mode operation, mainly on PSK-31 uses HRD DigiMaster DM780 software with either the Flex Radio Systems Flex 3000 using (VAC) Virtual Audio Cables or the Flex 6300 using (DAX) Digital Audio Exchange or the Kenwood TS590SG with a USB Audio Codec or the Icom IC7300 with a USB Audio Codec. All of which are capable of running Digital modes without an external interface , the power used for data modes is around 25 Watts.
Power SDR Version 2.72 and Smart SDR Version 1.9.13 is run on an Intel I7-3770 Quad Core Processor @ 3.4Ghz - Windows 10 / 16 GB Ram to deliver the required CPU performance for various SDR platforms to run simultaneously without latency.
An RF space SDR-IQ is used as an SDR Panadapter connected to the Yaesu FTDX5000MP 9Mhz I.F Output, with SDR Console version 2 providing a detailed Waterfall display along with point and click tuning capability with the Yaesu FTDX5000MP configured external Radio in the software.
Ham Radio Deluxe full version 126.96.36.1994 which is Windows 10 compatible is used for Cat control and QSO logging with auto eQSL and HRD log uploads.
