Hello and welcome to my information page on QRZ.  If you are here after having a QSO with me then thank you for looking, or if you are Short Wave Listener then all reports are welcome and eQSL's returned.

 

I am very Happily married to my wife Dawn 2E0WTZ, and we live together in Slade Green, North Kent.

 

We are QRV on (80m - 70 cm) from our Home Shack.

 

Simple and convenient Transceiver selection is achieved by using two W2IHY Iplus switches with two W2IHY 3x4 Switch Plus units, along with two W2IHY 1x4 Remote Coax Switches. An external remote mounted Ameritron RCS-8VX five port Antenna switch is used for final Antenna selection, connected through an Alpha Delta Lightning protection system on each port mounted to a common grounded buss bar.  The single main Coax feeder for HF + 6m is fed through a grounded line isolator located externally to prevent any RFI problems. The floor located Shack has no direct Ground connection due to the length required.  All Antenna feeders are grounded externally after the Line Isolator and this configuration allows High Power QRO operation with no RFI problems in the Shack. RF Outputs from the operating desk are via a bulkhead connector which enables full isolation by disconnection when not in use and then the disconnected feeders are simply terminated to a separate short circuit bulk head to protect the station from lightning damage in the event of a storm.

 

Two ATU units are selectable, either a manual tune Palstar AT2K or the Palstar HF Auto both capable of 160m - 6m operation.  One of the stations W2IHY 3x4 Switch Plus units makes available to the output of the HF/6M amplifier driven by any one of 5 selectable Transceivers either the AT2K / HF Auto / Comet 54Mhz Low Pass Filter / Bypass directly to antennas.

The SWR on the output of the Amplifier is monitored by a LP-100A Digital Vector RF Wattmeter with control lines coupled to a W2IHY 3x4 switch which in the event of an unexpected SWR reading will automatically disable the Amplifier key line and sound an alarm above a preset threshold.
