My name is Lige Sims. I am a lifelong resident of Gwinnett County Georgia and the third generation of my family to run a small local oil company. I live with my wife, a three legged cat, and a mini pig. My interest in HAM radios began in 1970, when I began studying for a novice license. I eventually lost interest in obtaining my license, but during the following years, I occasionally monitored HAM frequencies. Several years ago, I became interested in HAM radios again and decided to give studying for the licensing exams another shot. I received my technician license in December of 2014, my general class license in January of 2015, and my extra class license in February of 2015.

At home, I primarily operate an Icom 7300 with an Ameritron ALS-600 amplifier with an LDG AT-600 Pro II tuner. I also use a Kenwood TS-2000 on two meters.  For fixed radio antennas, I use an 80 meter ½ wave coax fed dipole, 40 meter ½ wave coax fed dipole, and 20 through 10 meter fan dipole. I am currently working on a 160 meter full wavelength loop with a ladder line feed. I have an Icom ID-5100A and a Yaesu FT-7900 for mobile use.

I am a member of the ARRL, Gwinnett Amateur Radio Society (GARS), Walton County Repeater Group, and Georgia Single Sideband Association.  I participate in a nightly round table from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm on 3.95.
