You have found the page for AC8JW. I operate mostly on CW on the HF bands. Frequently you will find me QRP with my K1 on the upper bands or with my FT950 on 80 meters. Other activities include participation in the NAQCC nets during the week and the evening sprints. Also I am active with the SKCC club and participate in the Weekend Sprints and usually QRP as well as checking in with the Michigan QRP club net on Tuesday evenings
Digital modes are also used here and I am active with the local Michigan Digital Traffic Net and one of several technical specialists for the Michigan Section. We provide programs for local clubs on setting up and using the digital modes. Recently we had the honor of presenting our program at the Great Lakes Division Conference in Columbus Ohio.
Antennas here include an end fed half wave up 50 feet in the pine trees and an 80 meter horizontal loop. Plans are in place for a vertical dipole for 15 meters and an inverted V for 80 meters.
Rigs include an FT950 and FT 840 as a back up. My QRP rigs consist of an Elecraft 4 band K1 and a 4 band Elecraft KX1. Additionally I have TenTec R4020. I am the owner and moderator for the R4020 Yahoo group. My keys are SpeedX straight keys and Bencher BY1 paddles. I also have a Kent touch keyer and sometimes put it in play. Recently added is a W8DIZ 1W20 1 watt 20Meter transceiver assembled as a kit.
Locally here in Kalamazoo County, I run a hospital net for our 9 county area on a monthly basis and am active with the local ARES/RACES program. I will respond to all QSL cards no postage or envelope needed. Logs are uploaded to LOTW and EQSL. LOTW a little less often but will upload sooner if a qsl is needed.
Hope to hear you on the bands
