My name is Ron Hardie and I am 65 years young ! ,I have been involved in Radio for many years and I am 'semi' retired ( I have  worked for Airbus on a contract basis for the last three years but have now retired (again!) and don't intend to work any more ) I  worked as an Aerospace Engineer with Airbus in the UK for many years and have been involved in  many new programmes such as A380,A350 and A400M which allowed me to travel to most countries in the World ,I worked for some time in Russia and met a number of Amateur operators at that time ,prior to my retirement I worked on transnational process and projects,I have recently been  working on a major work package transfer from the UK to South  Korea which will has now been  completed and so I have  finally retired from the Aerospace industry after 40 + years working with Aircraft .

I have a number of other interests in addition to Amateur radio,I am a fanatical fly fisherman and spend most of the warm weather by the water (in the winter I tie flies and sometimes make rods) ,I also restore cars (a 25 year old MX5 in particular) and I am also involved in local politics in a small way formely as the Chair of the local Parish Council and now as a councilor and chair of a number of the sub committees (one of the largst Parishes in the UK)

My original callsign was G7JVK and the current Call was my Fathers before me ,hopefully my son may take it from me ! (if he ever gets involved with radio) I live in the South West of England between the (Historic) cities of Bristol and Bath, I used to operate from a shack (well actually a shed !) in the back garden however due to my good behaviour I have been allowed back into the house now ! (well, actually my children have left home so I got a spare room !),I use a Yaesu ,FT950 ,IcomIC7300, I have an 8900 in the car together with  the FT857 (I like my Yaesu equipment !!) I also use a Kenwood TS440s, I have in line for pileups etc an Ameritron AL 811H linear Amp but find I don't have to use it that much, I use Heil , Kenwood and Yaesu Mics and transmit through a number of aerials both vertical and horizontal including an off center 40M dipole ,a Hustler Vertical a trapped di-pole and a cobweb ,I operate HF, VHF,PSK31 and also use Echolink I have also recently got into D Star and use both an ID 51 and an ID5100 also a 7100 all superb rigs and D star is a great new mode getting more popular all the time, I have recently built the DV Mega AMBE 3000 and have a lot of fun with that I use a  DV mini and a DVAP as well as an open spot hot spot ,  I have recently just started using DMR as well with a hand held radio (CS750) and a Hytera MD785 ,great fun as well and I am also QRV on C4FM fusion  ,I also do some work with Raynet (amateur radio emergency comms) to try and put something back into the hobby I really enjoy putting my skills such as they are to use in a voluntary environment , please feel free to e-mail me at ron.hardie@blueyonder.co.uk I respond to all e-mails and QSL's (I also QSL through eqsl)
