In the month of August I was assaulted by a gang of criminals here in the suburbs of a city in the Amazon Forest and my laptop, cell phones and documets were all stoles together with money and credit card. Fortunately my wife and I are still alive. The gang has been captured but our belongings had been sold. One week earlier thieves had penetraded in the compound and stolen another laptop, ipad, iphone and other belongings and heavily damaged my antennas that had not been put up yet. My radio had been left because they had been unable to find it. These are the reasons why I am qrt at the moment. I am trying to figure out how to be on air soon. Anyway I will not be able to upload on qrz, lotw, qsl and clublog as I have no computer available nor a tablet. I apologize for that.

-----------------NOTICE!-----------------

Please  be sure to log me as IK2SGL/OA8 and NOT OA8/IK2SGL. I receive a big quantity of digital and physical QSLs with the wrong callsing. Here in Peru it seems that those who use a CEPT licence have to put the OAn as a suffix. Also many complain that it should be /OA and not /OA8. I am really sorry but this is wrong according to Peruvian regulations and reciprocity to CEPT Recommendation T/R 61/01 which states:

PERU...OA...The letters OA, to be followed with a number indicating the zone in Peru from which the station is operated, form a suffix to the national call sign of the operator.

I believe it is clear enough. That's why I have been asked to put the area too. I hope this clarification closes this chapter definitely. If you feel you do not agree or do not feel this is not a valid callsign, simply ignore me and do not call me...

Ok now I can bump into my bio...

END OF NOTICE!

Hi there and thank you for looking me up. Pls. refer to my main call IK2SGL for my biography.

This station is located in the Amazon Forest, Peru. I'm active mostly on Mondays.

I am active on 6-160meters.

Radio: Kenwood 480sat

Ampl.: None, (if you have an old spare one to donate...HI:)

Antennas: Home-made delta loops one element for 40,30,20,15. These deltas have been built by using a 50-year-old phone cable that had been thrown away. I just collected it, joined all the pieces and wired. It seems it works, hi. Inverted L antenna for 40-80-160meters. A new antenna showed at stage, a ugly mono-quad. A mono element quad for 10-12-15-17-20 meters hung up to the water tank. It's as repugnant as it gets but it does work. 5 bucks to build it, it's a good bargain.

I moved to the Peruvian selva with my wife Sally. We are international volunteers in a worldwide education program. We contact and help the indigenous people of the region: the Shipibo-Conibo people. There is nothing better than help others and use our own energies and resources to give a hope to people. I firmly believe that the Holy Bible does give good counsels and a real hope for the future. (Psalms 37:10,11,29) We are not paid nor do we have a confortable life as we used to have but we are happy. I have very little time for radio but I enjoy contacting people al over the world and practising my Italian,English,Spanish,Tagalog and now Shipibo.

The area 8 of Peru is pretty rare. At the moment I have no news of other hams active in the area. So if you need this prefix, just look for me aroung 22.00utc on 20 meters. I also have a twitter channel where I usually tweet when I am on air.

SPONSOR/THANK YOU AREA

I decided to include a SPONSOR/THANK YOU area to thank all those who are helping me in various ways. My station is a little one and often old men give me something or valuable suggestions. I believe it is fair and a sort of thank-you way to do it publicly.  Not begging anything but sometimes people have spare parts or tools that are not used or practical suggestions to improve the station. This is my way to thank all those

QSL INFORMATION

I upload my qso on LOTW and EQSL on a regular basis.

As for paper qsl pls. follow the below details:

EQSL: OK

LOTW:OK

BUREAU: via IK2AQZ qsl Manager (BURO ARI only, any other BURO is not accepted and the qsl will never be claimed)

DIRECT:  NOT RECOMENDED. Here in Peru sending mails is VERY expensive. Only for USA we pay 9.70 nuevos soles (abt. 3 USD). I higly recomend to use one of the above methods to get my qsl.

Anyway if you wish to send it direct pse. send me an email where I can provide an address here in the Peruvian selva and I will reply direct.

DO NOT SEND DIRECT TO THE MANAGER. CONTACT ME FIRST AND I WILL PROVIDE A PERUVIAN ADDRESS WHERE TO SEND. IF DIRECT WILL BE SENT TO MANAGER HE WILL REPLY VIA BURO NO MATTER THE CONTRIBUTION. PLEASE FOLLOW CAREFULLY THIS NOTE IN ORDER TO AVOID MISUNDERSTANDINGS.

4 USDs for Europe and USA+ SAE

5 USDs for Asia, Africa + SAE

                              -  PLEASE -- NO IRCs -

If the contribution is not sufficient or no SAE, the qsl will be sent via Buro. USD can be sent into the envelope but it's risky and may be stolen. I would recomend the Paypal option.

I apologize for these costs but I cannot afford direct anymore as I am a fulltime volonteer in the Amazon Forest at no wage.

My deltaloop home made fixed at 240°

My Deltaloop mono element fixed to 240°/60°. Orrible to see but it does work.

On the left the 20m delta feed. In the center the 160m coil of the inverted L. It goes perpendicular the water tank. Vertical 11 meters then the rest horizontal up to the bamboo rod at 10 meters. On the right the feed of the 40m inverted delta.

Elevated radials (white) for the inverted L and inverted Delta Loop 40 meters. Angle at 90° (Black wire with white cord to fasten it). It goes from the Water tank to the Mango tree.

My new ugly mono-element quad multiband.. I know i know it is not the best shaped antenna but beggars can't be choosers, hi.

The Ugly mono-quad. It is ugly but it works.. Of course I would prefer a 4 elements CUBEX but... this one cost me about 5usd for wire and PVC at the bottom.
