IK5ZUI is MDXC # 384 member

Originally I was licensed in 1989 as IW5CGX (VHF & UP). I was 18 years, I was student at electronic technician high school and I lived near Siena, Tuscany land. My thanks to Luciano I5ELQ for introducing me to this wonderful hobby. I upgraded to A Class license and became IK5ZUI six year later.
I have enjoyed the challenges of VHF DX and Contesting since being introduced to this aspect of the hobby by I5ELQ. Since 1996 I enjoyed AO and RS satellites and HF DX.
I am active on HF when I get the opportunity. I’m mainly concentrating on DX from South America and Africa so I can attain some awards.

I have operated from a few DX locations and have held the calls: 8Q7IM, IK5ZUI/HI9, FH/IK5ZUI and now 5R8UI. I also operated with IZ8CCW and Mediterraneo DX Club in 2014 DXpedition and during the MDXC 20th Anniversary in 2017 as 5R8M, Nosy Be, Madagascar.

Please QSL these operations as follows:

QSL Information Callsign Via

5R8UI: QSL ONLY VIA IZ8CCW! ! ! Please don´t sent qsl directly to me, in Nosy Be we do not have good mail service. Please visit www.mdxc.org/5r8ui/qsl-info/

If you do not have your qsl please send an e-mail to IZ8CCW. He does a good job, but I know mail service won't do the same.

... and last but not least:

DX CODE OF CONDUCT www.dx-code.org/

1 I will listen and listen and then listen some more
2 I will only call if I can copy the DX station properly
3 I will not trust the cluster and will be sure of the DX station's call sign before calling
4 I will not interfere with the DX station nor anyone calling him and will never tune up on the DX frequency or in the QSX slot
5 I will wait for the DX station to end a contact before calling him
6 I will always send my full call sign
7 I will call and then listen for a reasonable interval. I will not call continuously
8 I will not transmit when the DX operator calls another call sign, not mine
9 I will not transmit when the DX operator queries a call sign not like mine
10 I will not transmit when the DX station calls other geographic areas than mine
11 When the DX operator calls me I will not repeat my call sign unless I think he has copied it incorrectly
12 I will be thankful if and when I do make a contact
13 I will respect my fellow hams and conduct myself so as to earn their respect

And remember: please not help the DX station to put you on a “black list”!

Help you and us to have fun!
