K0VH Dave Naatz, former call WA0VHX 1968-1999. Was Novice WN0RKP in 1967.

Born: Austin MN, also lived in Eau Claire WI, Minneapolis MN, Waseca MN, Ridgefield CT. Started work as UofMN EE at EFJohnson then spent 35 years at IBM mostly in engineering management at IBM Rochester MN. Married for 40+ years, 2 kids, 1 granddaughter. Son is Drew KC0CJP who's married to Kristin KD0EBU. Took early retirement from IBM in 2011. Enjoying HR Deluxe digi mode options and using new Rigblaster Jan 2013 was able to use HRD remote control with my Windows laptop in Hawaii to operate my Minnesota based IC746 SSB from Maui, Hawaii. Also now on DSTAR via W0MXW 440mhz Rochester repeater usually linked to Reflector 053A.  Used Aug 2015 QST Android remote control of HF rig while in FL Mar 2016.

Favorite bands: 10m, 15, 17,  2m FM. SSB casual contester and DXer. Regular on PSK31, Olivia & other HRD digi modes. Ragchewer. DXCC 170 countries, WAS, Tenten 5383.

Rigs ICOM 746, Yaesu VX-170 2m HT, mobiles YAESU FT1500M/m Jeep or FT2900R in Camry. Also have HF KW amp when conditions warrant using it.  ICOM ID31A 440mhz DSTAR radio to use with our W0MXW repeater and other systems. Baofeng UV5R HH.

Main antennas TA33WARC on an old refurbed Wilson 44' crankup tower or Butternut HF6 vertical; also open wire fed 120' dipole & 2m beam. Put up a $5 40m full size vertical (HD wire in oak tree via bow/arrow) using HF6 extensive ground radials and works great!

Member IBM Radio Club, Rochester MN ARC, MN Wireless contest group. Favorite contests ARRL 10m, Field Day emergency exercise. Dabble with CQ WW, ARRL DX, VHF & MN QSO Partys all SSB plus RTTY RU but many times too busy for more than a few hours of each. I chased DX for years but stopped at 170 confirmed to focus on more varieties that ham radio has to offer.

I prefer eQSL and as of October 2011 LoTW (pls email me to remind me if you have urgent need for a QSL) and mainly use them over hardcopy QSLs.  Below are 2010 photos of my shack and tower/beam, the main photo above is after a 2016 shack painting and reorganizing of certificates - QSLs occupy the rest of the room. 73!
