Hello and welcome! I have been a ham since Feb. 21, 2013. At my test session, I passsed both the Technician and General exams, to begin hamming as a General. My very first hands-on experience with HF was operating W1AW! Shortly afterwards, I enjoyed operating W1VCM, the vintage station at the Vintage Radio and Communications Museum in Windsor, CT. I acquired my HF gear in June 2013, and I've been having too much fun ever since! Member of Andover Hebron, CT CERT, and volunteer with Andover seniors and other groups in town. ARRL Life Member. Certified NWS weather spotter. Participaste in SKYWARN weather nets. Member Natchaug ARC and Hop River Radio Club. Running a Kenwood TS590S barefoot through a Gap Titan DX vertical. Two-meter rig is ICOM 2200H through a Diamond F-22A. Go-kit rigs are Yaesues FT2900 and FT857D, with various antennas. Enjoying DX, making contacts and new friends. Usually, hanging out with me in the ham shack are my rescues, dog Blitzen and cat Star. Star thinks he owns the place.

Upgraded to Extra, Oct. 12, 2013, in the heart of a government shutdown. As soon as our government got back to business, the FCC was on the ball processing upgrades. My new ticket arrived within a few days!

Received my ARRL Worked All States award, Dec. 2, 2013. Worked all continents but Antarctica. They're out there. I hear them. Someday... Have worked 123 unique DX entities. With a very simple station, I have made contacts around the world. Having now graduated from rookie into the ranks of the "old timers", it's fun to welcome new hams to the hobby. Some of them are my students!

It is an honor, and a lot of fun, to assist in teaching Amateur Radio licensing classes to aspiring new hams who are excited to learn and embrace a new hobby. Many are dedicated to public service. To assist and mentor new hams, and inactive hams returning to the hobby, the Hop River Radio Club was founded in Andover, CT, on Sept. 1, 2015. Through generous donations, we are building a club station and lending library. Listen for our call -- K1HRR!

The ARRL Centennial celebration in 2014 was great fun for me as a new ham. I achieved my W1AW WAS Award! And to all who have worked the #1 Most Wanted DXpedition in 2015, you know what a thrill it was to work Navassa Island! Scroll down to see my QSL card. NPOTA was also great fun. There's always something fascinating on the "radio horizon"!

Proud Mom of a USMC Afghanistan veteran.

Became an ARRL Life Member in 2015. Became a VE in 2016.
