K4BW was previously held by Bill Sprague, who lost his battle with cancer in March of 2010. It was his wish to have the Eastern Shore Amateur Radio Club obtain his call as the Club call. We wish to express our appreciation for Bill’s dedication to “ham radio,” largely expressed through the amateur radio club he founded on the Eastern Shore of Virginia more than 3 decades ago. Through his dedication and leadership, he inspired many to become hams and brought together these and many other hams for the purposes of advancing the hobby; providing communications assistance for a variety of annual events; and assisting with emergency communication needs of Northampton and Accomack Counties, when needed. Although now a “silent key,” his legacy shall live on since he donated his radio call, K4BW, to the club, in perpetuity.

Thank you Bill, and “73”
