I became a licensed ham in January 2002. I finally decided to take the test, after years of “thinking” about it.

I try to operate HF mobile while on the road. I travel in excess of 80K mi per year. I can be found monitoring 146.520 as well as many repeaters on the road. I attempt to check into D-Star Nets for Wisconsin and Ilinois regularly. I'm also known to mess around with DMR when in a area of repeater coverage. I typically use either D-Star or DMR Simplex while traveling with family and friends.

I have also been playing around with HSMM-Mesh routers for awhile. I've flashed over 30 routers in a weekend with both my call and those of other that I donated equipment to.

I attend aproximately 50 hamfests per year all over the US. I sell connectors, adapters, antennas and other items needed for amatuer radio use.

I do tinker around with cars, trucks, and motorcycles for repair. I am by far not a master mechanic but can handle most repair and upkeep. I do this mostly for fun, but also as a cost savings due to my high mileage lifestyle. I do prefer diesel over gasoline engines because they can take the abuse we give them on the road.

In my previous life I was a CNC Operator for a wood factory for about 18 years. I ran CNC routers as well as some programming modifications. I wasn't a programmer, but I did proof and modify programs for proper run as well as effiency and safety.
