Ham Member Lookups: 636

When I was a kid our next door neighbor had a ham statation.  I always wanted to be a ham but never got around to getting my liscense until a few years ago when I was in my 50s.  I ran into Jim Taylor AF5EI at the county fair.  He gave me a book and invited me to the technician classes given by the local radio club.  Someone told me that ham radio was a rich man's hobby but I found out differently.  There is a lot  of good used gear out there for little or no cost.  I hung a wire cut for 80 meters in a tree and fed it with some used coax.  I also have a store bought dual band verticle for vhf and uhf and feed it with some store bought coax.

Our radio club has 2 hf rigs that could be borrowed if someone was wanting to join the club and get on the air.

I enjoy checking into a couple of hf nets and one or two vhf nets.  I have a lot of antenna parts in my garage so I hope to someday complete one or two projects.
