Thanks for the lookup. (I'll try to make this a bit more interesting as I go) :>)

I just got into the digital side of things but don't care for macros. I can't type worth a damn so I'm between a rock and a hard place with PSK 31. Some of the other modes seem slower so I'll work on those.

8/21/11 update, if anyone cares. :) .............

I figured out some of the digital stuff but didn't seem to get too excited about it. I guess I just like to talk. I have been playing with a straight key, we will see.

10/19/11 update.......

Ten and twelve meters are as fun as everyone said they would be. :)

I was already hooked, but this confirms that DX is my place in Ham radio.

7/22/12 update, (I'm sure everyone is waiting with bated breath)......

Made some 6 Meter contacts today. I think I need to upgrade antennas.

10/21/12 update......

I built a basic 6AQ5 40 meter cw transmitter. That was cool. Winding coils takes some practice, that's for sure.

LESSON 1- Discharge all caps before poking around in tube gear. :)

Made DXCC but I haven't sent in for the cert yet. I am waiting for all LOTW confirmations. I think I have 15 to go there.

Station as of 10/21/12.....

Yaesu FT-450AT and an old Heathkit DX-40 to goof with CW. The VF-1 sure is funky. Crystals are the way to go!!

Basic homebrew 40 meter CW transmitter

Hallicrafters S40B receiver to go with the above. ($25.00 working from a garage sale.)

Ameritron ALS-600 S/S Amp

Zero-Five 43' Vertical

Arrow GP-52 6 Meter GP

MFJ 994B IntelliTuner

SignaLink USB Interface

HRD+DM780 on a Dell 17" i5 Laptop

Yaesu MD-100 microphone

Homebrewing a 10 meter Moxon. This will be my first beam. (Hopefully the first of many)

Scratch that, after weighing the pros and cons, I bought a MFJ 10 meter Moxon. I put it up but the band was funky; then it blew over.

Hmmm, put the 10 meter Moxon back up and did some A/B stuff against my 43' vertical. There is no comparison. I need to get a tower up with stacked monobanders. enlightened I know the 43' vertical is a poor high band antenna, but holy moley what a difference.

Going to put up a 17 meter Moxon. Should be an improvement also.

Applied for DXCC 100% LoTW confirmations. I have 147 confirmed total. I think I will wait to hit 200 before I have the cards checked. The 10M Moxon is working well. I got a 20 over 9 from Ralph, 5W0W on Samoa, running 100W!

Ordered a Tennadyne T6 Log Perodic today. Now saving for the tower and concrete. Stay tuned!

Still saving for the pad and tower. I get distracted too easily and keep buying old radios for my collection. Oh well, as long as it's up for FT5ZM.yes

The Tennadyne is not up. I am setting my goals for 2014 as getting that dang antenna in the air and taking my extra test. I've just been lazy lately.

On a different front, I have been playing with the W7DXX remote. That has been interesting and fun. If my Tennadyne T6 is even slightly close to the T11 the remote is running, I will be ecstatic.

Well, it's been bit since I updated the page. Things have changed a bunch for me. The T-6 is still in a box. I'm not sure if I am going to keep my current home or downsize. (Gasp!) I'm pushing 60 and I don't know if I can, or want to, maintain a large property much longer. It's a good problem to have I guess. Part of this rant could be that DX is slow this time of year. I'm sure that when the dxpeditions start rolling back in I'll forget I wrote this. :)

Ok, I have decided to stay at my current QTH. I can put up a 40' tower without any trouble from the bureaucrats. After speaking to a current owner of a T-6 (thanks K9IUQ) I believe this set up will allow me to fulfill my DX aspirations. I can replace the 43' vert with a low band vertical (trap 40/80?) and utilize the existing radial field I put in. Can you tell DX has picked up? :)

Don't laugh, but I made my first CW contact today with FW5JJ. I can hear CW ok but just can't send it yet. I REALLY want to use my own key. Macros got me through this but what happens if the DX wants to talk at 30 WPM? :)

My CW to SSB ratio is approaching 1 to 1 for the year. Funny how that works. I sure like CW and really want to study and learn.

The "Summer Doldrums" are in high gear radio wise. Some nice dxpeditions coming up, however.

OK, I'm off the schneid. I worked two "new ones"... Z21MG and G67DIA. The DX season begins.

Been so busy with DX I plum forgot about this page. VK0/H, FR/J, VP8/G&H, ZL9 and on and on. What a year so far. I am very close to 300 :).
