I have a rather unique setup due to HOA restrictions.  I have multiple rigs and 1 antenna, a Buckmaster OFC.  My rigs:

  • Yaesu FTDX-3000D - Main CW and SSB rig
  • Icom IC-7300 - Main digital rig
  • Yaesu FT-1000MP (1st Gen) - NEW!  Still finding a niche
  • Elecraft K2 S/N 1994 - QRP, Travel radio
  • Yaesu FT-900 - Old school fun when the bands are open
  • Yaesu FT-450 - Currently in my brother's shack

I use an Ameritron AL-811 to give my signal a little kick on SSB, but I seldom use it for CW and Digital modes.  I've also got an Icom ID-51A D-Star HT with a DVAP.  I have multiple 2/440 base rigs, but I haven't quite worked out a viable antenna solution.....I'll get to it.

I recently started getting active on CW again, and I have rekindled the old flame.  This has led to an obsession with straight keys and I enjoy restoring rusty old keys that people are ready to discard.  My 'every day key' is a Klopfertaste built by Hartmann & Braun, Frankfurt for the German rail roads and military during WW1.

Regarding QSLs: I QSL every card I receive.  I regularly upload logs to LoTW, eQSL and QRZ, but I still love to show off my paper cards to anyone who can stand it.

I'm also a professional musician - stop by my web page and show some love http://www.reverbnation.com/jimgiercyk

During the CQ WW WPX contest, I (and presumably hundreds of other stations) made a LSB contact on 7.125.5 with IR4M.  I promptly received a note from an Official Observer in California stating I was "Out-of-band".  If you say so K6RBS.  I sent a friendly e-mail to IR4M letting him know what happened and that he might want to consider working a little higher on the band or he may miss a lot of stateside contacts.  Part of his response is priceless:

"what happened to you is so silly that we couldn't imagine someone during a major world-wide contest would have lose his time rising a question like that....But, seriously speaking, are these true problems ??  We really don't think so... maybe "Official Observers" are a bit bored ? Hi :)"

True Story!  LOL

One night the boys decided to let me have a drum break

Lead Guitar: Will Garland, Rhythm Guitar: Shain Stewart. Bass: Bill Wynn, Drums: Me

Hail, hail, the gang's all here

The radio family with the legendary Gordon West, WB6NOA.  From left to right, Steve N2SG (Dad), Gordo WB6NOA, Steve WA2BMO (Brother) and N2SUB (Me).

My little corner of the world   :)

My first Harley!

Dad (N2SG) and Me.....can you tell we're related?

My very best friend Lee and me doing what we've done since we were kids.  This was my first game at the "new" Yankee Stadium.  It was somewhat of a bitter-sweet night, but you can't beat the company

Playing with Keith (guitar) and Will (bass) with the band Mile Marker 0 on New Years Eve.

A light-hearted moment playing percussion with Acoustic Sky.  I have no idea what was so funny, but it must have been good.

Between sets with Lady T and Friends.  On the left in my friend Tracy, and on the right is my lovely XYL Daina

Hanging out back stage with The Marshall Tucker Band.

People say she's the ugliest car ever made.....until they see the tent.  Then they all want one.   :)

Radio Dogs.....

K9/Gabby   (sk)   crying

Honestly, I can't remember what band this was.  They all run together after a while.

This is what it looks like when a drummer tries to play guitar.  surprise

Yes, I'm the guy who got blacklisted by HRD.  Read and decide for yourself:

Here's the review that caused all the fuss....I stand by it:

At least Ham Radio got World-Wide attention:

Thanks for stopping by my page.  73 and see you on the air!   ... -.-
