Thank you for stoppimg by and getting to know about me. I live in Point Place a suburb of Toledo Ohio all though we are still considered Toledo. My QTH is very close to the Ottawa River, Maumee River and the most furthest West you can go on Lake Erie. We have 2 Bald eagles that have made a home here and we have a nature park they like to nest at. It's right by the water so I guess maybe the lake/river is a source of food for them. Lake freighters usually travel and dock across the river and they seem to get really interested when the ships go in and out. When stopping to talk to some one it never fails one comes up on a branch above me as if to hear my converstion. I was licensed in October 1982 as a novice call sign KA8QHL when I upgraded to Technician is when I changed my call, Back then there were no VE's so it was a very nervous trip to the F.C.C. in Detroit Mi. to test. On Oct. 4th 2012 is when I became an Extra soon after that I became a V.E. The pics are from the museum ship Schoonmaker. Thats me in the background on the ship.      The Schoonmaker

My station consists of an Kenwood TS-2000X, with a G5RV JR. antenna and a Jet Stream antenna for uhf/ vhf, Signalink, TYT MD380, TYT MD8600 for the car and about 5 other Ht's 3 of which are Boafeng radio's. Alot of people don't like the Boafeng radio's but when I go out on events for ARES if one were to come up missing or damaged no great loss. I get on DMR here and there. A tradition that is growing in pretty much every race there is a young fireman or more who run's the race with all his fire fighting gear on.

My main operating areas are my fav. FT8 (WSJT-X ) followed by PSK31 and a lot of the other digital modes, I use FLDIGI as my software for everything but FT8. I do contesting on a casual basis alot of the qso party's, I'm also a special event chaser Route 66 is one of my favorites and more recently Museum Ship's weekend where I with a bunch of other guys activate The U.S.S. James Schoonmaker. Unfortunately there are limited hours we can operate do to the museum being closed. The first 2 pictures are of the Schoonmaker I'm in the middle with the safety yellow hoody on. Yes it was a bit cold on deck that day. The last picture is of the Glass City Marathon on the left is the fireman and on the right is the beer stop!  When I operate onboard contesting mode kicks in and I try to get as many contacts in as possible.

I do have a blog at https://n8gbu.blogspot.com

Mainly about radio and showing off a few qsl's I get in the mail.
