N8SL is the club call for the South Lyon Area Amateur Radio Club. Our club website is www.slaarc.com.   As the name implies, our club is comprised of Amateur Radio operators from the area around the city of South Lyon in Southeastern Michigan. The South Lyon Area Amateur Radio Club, or SLAARC for short, is an ARRL affiliated organization. SLAARC is comprised of a group of individuals who enjoy sharing their knowledge of ham radio. We are a diverse group - each bringing something unique and enriching to our club and to amateur radio.

Our regular meetings are held on the second Sunday of the month at the Witch's Hat Depot in South Lyon, MI at 6:30 PM.  The Witches Hat Depot is located on Dorothy Street west of Pontiac Trail (between 9 and 10 mile road). Please check our website for any last minute changes to the meeting time or location. Our door is always open for new members, or if you just want to visit. Please join us at our regular monthly meetings. We generally have a short program at the end of each meeting. We like to “Show and Tell” the projects we are working on, so come see what we are doing or bring in your interesting project to one of our meetings.

The club sponsors a VE session on the 4th Saturday of the month (except December) at 9 AM at the Witch's Hat Depot.  Walk-ins are welcome.  Additional information is available on our website.

We also have an informal breakfast gathering every Saturday morning at 8 AM at the Senate Coney Island in South Lyon. The Senate Coney Island is located in the strip mall on the northwest corner of 11 Mile and Pontiac Trail.  We will be in the back room of the restaurant.

The N8BHT 2 meter repeater (147.04-64) located in South Lyon is the on-the-air gathering spot for our club members. It is a Yaesu Fusion repeater running in AUTO-AUTO mode providing both analog FM and C4FM digital communications.  The repeater is connected to the internet via a WIRES-X room (21923) and an Allstar node (29789).  We also conduct a weekly net on the repeater each Sunday evening at 8:00 PM except for the 2nd Sunday of the month when our regular club meeting is held.

Our big event each year is the annual ARRL field day.

Please check out the pictures on our club website www.slaarc.com to see more about our various activities including our annual Christmas party.
