ALASKA-SIBERIA AIR ROUTE OPENED 75 YEARS AGO

Alaska-Siberia Air Route played a huge role for the front. 8904 Military and  transport planes were delivered to USSR from USA  during 3 war years.

Rules for Diploma „75 Years ALSIB”

(75 лет АЛСИБ)

The days of activity of The International HAM aviators club “Fifth Ocean” devoted to the 75th anniversary of the creation of a delivery route Alaska – Sibir – Front will cary out in the period from 9th until 15th  of October 2017.

The ALSIB  was a delivery route used during World War II to move goods, particularly Lend-Lease aircrafts from Alaska (USA) to the Soviet Union. This was the Soviet route and American one started from Great Falls in the state of Montana and finished in Nome in Alaska.

This commenced in 1942 and the soviet pilots received aircrafts from their american colleagues in Fairbanks, center of Alaska to avoid any possible attacks from Japanese who in the summer of 1942 occupied part of Alaska.  

After Soviet inspectors accepted the aircrafts, soviet pilots conveyed aircraft from Fairbanks to Soviet pilot training facilities near Krasnoyarsk.

Secondary task was also route for goods and materials, diplomatic post and diplomats. The route closed in September 1945 with the end of the conflict and the cessation of the Lend-Lease scheme.

The Council of the "Fifth OceanClub"  established memorable Diploma 75 Years ALSIB

To obtain the Diploma you need to catch number of points, equal to the length of the route in kilometers – 6450 points.

  • QSO with special calls R75ALSB givs you points, equal to the distance from your QTH locator to QTH locator of the operator of R75ALSB times by two.

 

QSO with one and the same station counts only made on different modes and different bands.

Counts QSO’s established in the period 9 October 2017 – 31 December 2017.

Activators, members of The “Fifth Ocean” club can obtain Diploma during days of activity establishing 250 QSO’s or more. After 15th of October – as chasers.

Plaque “75 Years ALSIB”

To receive this plaque you must obtain the Diploma and to establish  QSO’s with special call R75ALSB on three different bands plus on two different modes (regardless of the band).
