June 18, 1937, the crew of VP Chkalov, G. F. Baidukov, A. V. Belyakov on the ANT-25 began the first ever non-stop flight from USSR to USA through the North pole. In 63 hours and 25 minutes has been covered a distance of more than 10 thousand kilometers of earth, or 12 thousand kilometers of air routes. Of these, 5,900 miles had been laid over the oceans and ice. As the flight to Udd island, the flight over the North pole took place in difficult conditions: fog, cyclones, icing, oxygen., the pilots put their car near Portland. For this flight, Chkalov was awarded the order of red banner... Flying in America has been invaluable. The newspaper "new York Herald tribune" called it "a difficult and brilliant feat." And the greatness of this feat does not fade ever. In 1975 in Vancouver, where 20 of the June 1938 landed the plane Chkalov, was inaugurated a monument in honor of the historic flight of the Soviet pilots. It was built at the expense of residents. The name of V. P. Chkalov here are Park street and the Museum, where carefully preserved gifts donated by the Russians.
 International Amateur radio club-aviators "Fifth Ocean" holds events dedicated to this Anniversary in accordance with the action plan of the club in 2017. Apply for the issuance of a call sign temporary use R80PSP in the period from 17 to 25 June 2017 with the possibility of its use on the territory of the Russian Federation.
