Welcome to my page on QRZ.COM.

I have been fairly active since I got my license April 26th 2015.  I love the hobby and there are so many angles to it yet to be discovered.

When preparing for S79V 2016 (see bellow) Martin A65DC and I built an online log system.
We got a little attention from other groups going on expeditions and decided to make something out of it.

The result is the QSO Director. Read more about it here

2017 Highlights:  Bjössi (TF8TY) my son got licensed.  Yagi installation.

TF8TY
In spring Bjössi went to ham radio class at our club ÍRA.  He was only 11 years old so I joined him in class every time.  We attended 3 times a week for 2 months.  This way I was able to follow where the class was at making me able to help him out with homework.  April 28th at the exam he passed and got himself as fully licensed ham.  Youngest ham ever in the country.  Daddy very proud :-)

Yagi Installation
It was time to step up the antenna collection.  Moving from wire to beam.  Bjössi and I built a pull-up mast with a Cushcraft A4S beam.  Wow, this is improving dx condx a lot.  We are having a ball with it.

A4S attached to the mast, ready to be pulled up.                        Boat winch to pull up.  5 minutes work to pull up/down.

Beaming north america.                                                              Isn't she pretty?

2016 Highlights:  S79V Dxpedition and low band vertical project.

S79V
Joined the S79V dxpedition to Seychelles 1st to 10th July 2016.  Great fun, big pileups and lot of contacts.  Please check out the dxpedition page.

The vertical antenna project

Finally completed.  This summer (2016) my latest antenna project is completed.  10m long vertical in my yard with 36 12m long ground radials.  Seems to work very well on the 40m band.  Have used it also for 30m and 80m.

2015 Highlights: Joined the hobby.  Shack installation.  First antennas.

Shack Installation

For HF I have Kenwood TS-870S, it is a nice rig from 2001 which I bought second hand.

For VHF/UHF.  Yaesu FT-7800R and Opec UVS-300 antenna and few Baufeng handheld radios.

Fan dipole inverted-v oriented.  Cut for 15m, 17m and 20m.  In the background the Opec UV-300 3 element collinear (VHF) and 8 element collinear (UHF).
(2017 the Opec broke because of heavy storm, replaced with Diamond X50, no picture yet)
(2017 the fan dipole was removed, replaced with a beam)

Bjössi, my son on the picture above.  He was granted by Post and Telecom to operate as TF8KY/Q1 as my intern.  He has been operating PSK31 and has several contacts in his log.
(2017 Bjössi got fully licensed, his call is TF8TY)
