Greetings from eastern Collier County, Florida.  I've been licensed since July 2009, when I was granted my original callsign of KJ4NKJ.  I was granted my grandfather's callsign of W2PAX the first of 2013.  He was the influence in my life to become an amateur radio operator.  I remember spending many hours sitting beside him in his "radio room", and riding shotgun at various events where hams were helping with communication, such as the Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon between Philadelphia and Atlantic City.  I wish I had been licensed earlier in my life so we could've enjoyed the hobby together.  To all those procrastinators out there -- get licensed!

I'm a member of the Amateur Radio Association of Southwest Florida and the Fort Myers Amateur Radio Club.

Besides amateur radio, my other passion in life is trains.  I have an HO Scale model railroad layout which I don't spend near enough time with, and I enjoy being trackside to watch prototype trains as well.  I'm very involved with monitoring railroad packet radio, which uses software to decode packets that indicate train locations (ATCS Monitor, www.atcsmon.com).

My QTH equipment includes an Icom 7000 for HF/6M, an Icom 880H for 2M/440/DSTAR, a Motorola HT1250 for 220, a Connect Systems CS800 for DMR, and a DVAP. Mobile, I use an Icom 880H; portable, an Icom 80AD & Connect Systems CS750.

73,

Dave S. W2PAX
