Hi my name is Bill.  I was licenesed in 2014 after many years of thinking and partially studying for the ham radio tests.  I think I studied for the technician plus test first many years ago.  I was orginally licenced as KC3EII.  I was not fond of the call although it would have been good for CW.  I opted for a vanity call sign and got W3WGS.  I opted for this because WGS are my initials so I will never forget my call sign.  Since the call was a general call sign I thought it would be good to upgrade which I did in March of 2015 with two other Technicians.  We all passed the test together.  Something I am very proud of.

My Stations HF Rig is a yeasu FT-991 running a maximum of 100 watts.  I have a G5VR in an inverted V configuration sitting 30' in the air.  My station easily covers all of the US and Europe.

I also run a Wires-X HRI-200 node with a yeasu FTM-100DR as the node radio.  I like running this node and working my own node from my mobile.  I have an FT-3200 single bander in my truck.  I really like America Link and like working the room both at home and mobile.

I use HRD to work other Digital modes like PSK31.  I work JT-9 and JT-65 wit other software.  I enjoy the digital modes greatly.  I also like IRLP and EchoLink even though some older hams in my club say it isn't real radio.  I  really just like talking to people.  I like using the HT with IRLP and making QSOs.  I like to ragchew and do a lot of that on 2 meters.

Outside of radio I am an avid motorcycle rider.  I ride like 300 days out of the year and enjoy every one of them.
