My first exposure to amatuer radio was as a young boy "helping" my Grandfather hand write qsl cards and looking at the floor to ceiling radio cabinet he had. Fast forward a few decades, and I decided to attempt getting my ticket.  First licensed as a General in November 2013 as KD8VXT, reactivated my sk Grandfather's call sign in December of the same year.  I didn't venture far from VHF/UHF until May 2015 when I finally started to dip my toe into the deep end of amatuer radio by getting into HF running barefoot with a wire antenna hanging in the backyard.
