Grew up in New Jersey, licensed as a kid in 8th grade (WN2WIK). Moved to Los Angeles in mid-1988 and never changed my old callsign. It's a mouth full, but a great sobriety test. I'm not moving back East, as I hate cold weather, humidity, rain, snow, lightning, mosquitos, toll roads and everything else I can remember.  I like L.A. a lot.  Traffic provides time to think about important things, like "how can I get out of this traffic?"

Continuously active for about 50 years, through more than a dozen moves. Just can't keep away from this hobby!

I work 1.8 through 432 MHz CW/SSB and a bit of FM on 52, 144, 222 and 440 MHz. Enjoy AM work, when conditions are suited for it. I QSL 100% in reply, but very infrequently unless requested. 30 shoeboxes filled with QSL cards occupying two 200 lb+ cartons in the garage seem sufficient. DX QSLs go via the bureau unless inbound is accompanied by SAE.

On HF, mostly active on 10/12/15/17/20/40 as conditions permit.  When 10m is very good, I'm on 12m.  Hey, I have a beam there -- why not?

Got back a bit into VHF-UHF contesting thanks to old friend Wayne N6NB who twisted my arm.  Been operating multiop portable with the N6VI group from a mountaintop each June.  We win some stuff.

XYL and four daughters...all four have now graduated universities and youngest one is in grad school going for an MA in CTVA (screenwriting major); one now lives in Florida, and another is living for six months in Guam but will return October '15.

Only other male in the house is my dog, Boo.  We have another dog, Briar, but she's a YL like everyone else.  Also have a pet tortoise for some reason; also a female, affectionately named Frenchfry.  Although I don't know why.

The photograph is me and "my girls:"  (L to R) Daughter Tiffany, Daughter Robyn, Daughter Jacqueline, XYL Artemia, Daughter Lovely. I'm the one with the tie.

The door is always open to old ham radio friends. Just call first.
