This is me back in 1964

Hi, I am 70 and live in Massachusetts. I spent a few years in the Navy and operated on the Guantanamo navy base as KG4ES around 1970. Worked 18 years at Sears repairing TVs and appliances then I left there to work for the local electric utility in the protective relay department. http://eversource.com After NSTAR I worked part time at American Electrical Testing Co., Inc www.aetco.us. I am now retired.

Member of Rehoboth Emergency Management Agency.

I am also a member of SEMARA (Southeastern Massachusetts Amateur Radio Association, Inc.) http://www.semara.org

Station is now an Icom 7600, Ameritron AL-80B Amp and the antenna is 3 element SteppIR

Software is Ham Radio Deluxe. Log uploaded0 to LOTW every few days.

3 Element Yagi SteppIR

This is my yagi down for some repair.

Had a wasp build a mud nest in one of the elements and would not let the tape extend all the way out. This is what happened. The end of the elements are open so it is important to have a small spunge like object at the end so water can drain out yet bugs can not get in. I guess mine had deteriorated over the years giving the bugs access.

The base plate cracked in several places. I had to epoxy it back together and used fiberglass at the bottom to hold everything together.  I then ordered some spare parts but did this temp job getting it back together to make sure it would still work ok.  I will have to take it down again to put the new base plate on. It only takes me about a half hour to get the antenna lowered and tilted to the ground with this system. And I can do it alone.
