Progressed through the ranks holding the callsigns M1BJA, M5BJA and M0IJM (which I still hold as well)
G8ZHC was originally my father's (Kenneth) callsign who became silent key at the beginning of 1999.At the end of May '06 I applied for the callsign when OFCOM reintroduced transfer of callsign, and was granted it. He never made on to the HF bands under his own callsign, and thought the next best thing was to get his callsign onto HF. So hear goes from June 2006.
Also a member of the Oldham Radio Club (G1ORC/G4ORC) & Southport ARC and support the clubs from the back benches where possible.
I still hold foundation lead instructor status, and mainly active on DStar these days with the odd guest appearance on HF SSB,& data with the trusty FT-847 the last of the all in ones in my opinion to look and behave like a proper RX/TX.
Still the cycling having swapped the hills of Oldham for the coastal paths of the Sefton Coast and still take the handie's with me operating echolink/IRLP via GB2OA. Currently testing DStar DVAP and Windows 8 Tablet for mobile digital use.
Thanks for looking
