Hi dear ham friend

Thanks for stopping by my page.
My name is Ulf and I became a licensed amateur as late as March 2013 at the age of 62.
I started with CB radio when I was about 20 years old, but work and family formation took over.
It took me more than 40 years to realize that this is one of the most enjoyable hobbies you can have. Am I slow or what? :-)
Thanks to all my old friends nagging on me all these years to do this!

I don’t have an antenna farm located in a tower half way up to the moon,
I don’t have 5 different HF rigs either, and I don’t run a 1000W amplifier,
but I have an small portable antenna in my small garden (Superantenna MP1)
and I have an old Kenwood TS-570S 100W rig , but I wish I have all of it,
until then I stick with this and it works, can you believe it ? :-)

However, My QTH is Gavle, in Sweden. Locator JP80nq. about 170 north of Stockholm

It would be fun if you would send me a QSL card after a nice QSO,
100% QSL Via the Bureau, E-QSL, HRDLOG.NET , LOTW or direct.

I QSL 100%. When I get a qsl card, I send one out.
No SASE's, or dollar bill's, or IRC's needed

You pay your way, and I pay my way , seems fair to me!

Some Stats and history:

Made my absolute first QSO on SSB May 5 2013 with a station from Jersey !
It was really funny because that station was a swedish ham. His call was MJ/SM3TLG ( Hans)
I had broken the ice and Hans was very kind to me in my first rookie call, thanks Hans for that.
I made some few more SSB calls and realized that my antenna and power was to bad to make me heard around the world.
Luckily I found something called PSK and digital modes
After a month I was ready to go online on PSK and soon figured out that this is it.
First QSO on PSK31 Jun 3 2013 with IV3DBT on 20m. I was happy as a child to get everything working :-)

Today Nov 5 2013 , 5 month later I have made 1902 QSO on PSK and it's still fun every day to meet new and old ham friends.

Some funny online QSL stats.

As a rookie I want QSL from my contacts and I want it fast, so I decided to use E-QSL and LOTW as my main QSL ways.
on 5 Nov 2013 it looks like this:
E-QSL worked 1902 contacts Confirmed 1350 = 71%
LOTW worked 1902 contacts Confirmed 352 = 18,5%
Worked 88 DXCC 77 confirmed
So now I have to write some QSL cards to confirm some of the missing ones cheeky

Here you can see my fantastic antenna park: the Superantenna MP1B from http://newsuperantenna.com/
This little great thing has make it it possible for me to get many many great contacts.

The antenna park IS updated with an homemade G5RV baby size
From today 20131105 I can use this one too.

UPDATE:
I am now on D-Star as well , call me up on DCS010 F or DCS010 B and sometimes on REF001 C
I also run 2 Icom repeaters SK3GY B & SK3GY C.
We have our own homepage for the repeater so if you want more info just type in http://sk3gy.se

And here’s is my schack
