My postal address is PO Box 1080, Stirling, SA 5152, Australia.

Thank you for looking at my page. I will also QSL any VK5BJE/P contacts. I have a second page for VK5BJE/P and also have a second eqsl account. I also have the call sign VK5PF.

A word about my name. I am called John. I use my second name rather than the first.

I was first licenced in December 1976 as VK3YFG (limited call) and after passing morse code (10wpm) in early 1977 became VK3BJE. My wife and I plus our two small boys moved to Adelaide in 1982 from Melbourne (for work) and I became VK5BJE. Amateur radio is my first and most important hobby. The picture in the top right shows me operating QRP with my Ten-Tec Argonaut VI in the Murray-Sunset National Park in Victoria. I am able to link radio with camping and 4x4 driving. Amateur radio is a truly great hobby and I have experimented with many modes.

We have moved from the city to the Adelaide Hills. Our new house is 408m above sea level and located on 10 acres of bush. It is a great radio location.

I have been a member of the Wireless Institute of Australia since 1974 and am a member of the ARRL (plus ten years) and the Adelaide Hills Amateur Radio Society Inc. My Ten-Ten International membership certificate number 30236, dating from the late 1970s. Recently, I have renewed my interest in QRP while portable, spurred on the the VK5 National and Conservation Park Award and SOTA. You can check out my blog at http://vk5bje.com

Rigs: IC7600 & IC7000 HF; IC910 2m, 70cm & 23cm, ID1 23cm FM and D-Star; Yaesu 857D in 4 x 4.

Antennas: Tet Emtron 3 element tribander HF; 7band OCF dipole;13 elements Cushcraft for 2m ssb; 13 element home brew yagi 70 cm; 18 elements 23 cm ssb (on three towers).

Two of my three towers are visible with our mud brick house in the background. I decided to replace my over thirty year old tri-bander with a new one.

The Tet-Emtron three element tri-bander is assisted by a propagation enhancer on the driven element: a kookaburra or laughing jackass!
