Happy Christmas

See you in 2018........... by for now......

Hello. Thanks for looking me up.

My name is Duncan and my callsign is 2E0EOR

14 - CQ ZONE

DMR ID - 2344410 - Feel free to call me

Please tab down to the bottom of this page to see my latest updates etc:

My very first experience with radio was back in 1981.
I became involved in CB radio and joined a club known as the Bugs Bunny Club.
In 2011, some many Years later I became interested in Sat Transmissions using 2m. Moving forward, I became licensed and my Call sign was M6AOC.

In December 2013 I made my first 2m FM simplex contact on 5w whilst mobile on my CR8900 antenna to the Neatherlands, Dorset, Norwich, between 300 miles distance due to band conditions.
I also work D-Star and Echo-Link. The most exciting part that always gives me a buzz, is making contact on no more then 5w. The DUCKER-PL Miracle Whip that connects to the 817 has been a great compromise and even this will get me into Europe on 2.5W.

I own a Yeasu FT-8900 and FT-857D which I use in the car, an Icom 92AD, Icom 51 Plus, a Yeasu FT-817ND for portable work and now a TYT MD 390 DMR Radio. My mobile antenna was the 8900 however as this is a quad band and seeing as 10m is now almost dead I recently changed to a new antenna called the Nagoya which is 76 cm in heigh, however I have changed that to a 70/2 Diamond. So far reports have been good.

Some of the repeaters I often use, in order of use are GB3MH/GB3WS/GB3NS/GB3AU/GB3AL/GB3NX, (GB7MH Dstar)

At the begining of May 2014, I have been using a 70cm DVAP and so far it has been working good.

I did purchase my first DMR handheld radio not in 2016 as I first said but in August 2017. The CS7000 that I kept talking about appears not to be happening anymore, so I have decided not to get that radio.

My portable setup consists of a Bandhopper for 80m/40m/30m/20m dipole antenna working QRP.
7m telescopic pole & a Ducker-PL Miracle Whip and this works. Wonder Wand Wide Bander and
Wonder Wand 4010. A 10m telescopic pole Prowhip for the 80,40,20,10,6m band. Rigexpert AA178, Ampro 20m HF mobile and a G-Whip 80,40,20 Mobile for HF. The G-Whip works a treat on 20M

I am interested in working QRP no more then 5W, using proprogation tools/programs to see how far I can transmit.

2015 had started on a positive note and I have been using my 817 with my miracle whip and is working a treat. I have also been busy putting a YouTube page together in order to start filming some of my Ham activities. When I am up and running I will post here!  Lets hope 2016 is a good year for contacts. We are now in 2017 and I have updated my contacts page.

29/10/15 - On the 25th October 2015, the CQ ww SSB contest took place. It was my first with only 5W of power. Big thanks to those who made contact with me. A big thanks to Russia.
31/12/15 -

On the 31st December 2015, went portable with my trusty Prowhip. 20m signals were coming in strong, but 15m were even stronger for me. Made some good contacts on 15m unfortnately I did not log them all. As the weather is starting to get colder and wetter I am mostly quiet on the bands. Hoping to start recording my QSO's in the new year, more likley in the Summer. Maybe also add some and update this page as some of the links appear to have disappeared

20/03/16 - Weather starting to get better now. Lost my Father so have not been active on the bands.

03/04/16 - Was very reluctant to go portable today, as the bands have been terrible. however one thing as a QRP operator I have learnt, never just rely on the K index or Sun Spots. Today I did venture out with my Vertical and made contacts on 20m.

08/10/16 - Its been a rather hectic few months. We are now approaching Christmas and the weather is cold and wet. The bands yesterday were in fine form with the flux over 100. Hope to make contact soon...

11/11/16 - Great day at Kempton last Sunday. Managed to purchase a Rigexpert AA178 for £250. Slowly sorting out my mobile HF equipment. Big thanks to Geoff at www.gwhip.co.uk  for the handmade G-Whip HF antenna and the 3 coils that come with it. My 8900 is being replaced with the 857 this weekend. My intention is still to start fiming some of my contacts using QRP.

14/12/16 - Finally replaced my 8900 for a 857d. Absolutely dream radio. Looking forward to using HF in the car. With Christmas just around the corner I am more likely to be using HF in the new year. The CS7000 that I was talking about appears to be a long way of for production so my next radio will be the DV4mobile. As already mentioned but due to life in general, I am still looking at recording my own videos but this will be probably be in 2017.

24/01/17 - With Christmas over and the weather getting colder, not much activity. In fact I have kept inside having a go with WSPR. Still learning with this program but it is fun. Really must get a decent antenna. I managed to pick up a VK station but managed no spots with an indoor antenna. I have taken off my Nagoya antenna and I am now using a Diamond AZ Slim Gainer for the car and it is a really good antenna. The CS7000 DMR radio does not appear to be happening now, so have my eyes on the the DV4 Mobile http://wirelesshold.com/dv4mobile-2.aspx
I also mentioned that I would like to film some of my activities and this is still something that I would like to do so have not given up.

19/08/17 - 7 months later and I take to QRZ to let you know what I have been doing radio wise. Been a rather busy with family life and have not had much chance to play radio. A few weeks ago I purchased my very first DMR radio. MD 390, a big thanks to 2E0RKE for all his help in providing the code plugs to get me started. Had my first propper chance of using the G-Whip on 20m and I had some great contacts even when the conditions were not that great. Nice to make some local contacts. Please do follow on Twitter and next time I may even have a video of some QSO's that I will post on Twitter.

26/11/17 - Its been a very few months. Had a great holiday over August and the weather in the UK has also been really good. I went to the Newark Ham Fest and purchased some HF mobile antennas and a Sirio 4000 for 27mhz. I finally took the plunge and sat my Intermediate Exam and now I will have a new Call Sign starting with 2E0. FINALLY, I now a proud owner of an Icom 7300 and a new 50amp Power Supply. Not only that I purchased a Diamond x50 which sits nicely on the Chimney Stack waiting to be used. I did some research on coax and I went for the Ultraflex 7 with an N type plug. As you know N type plugs are excellent, especially when you need something waterproof. It made me go out and buy a new Soldering station. So far so good. Slowly I am getting my shack sorted. Like with most things it takes some time. Still a few things to purchase, being LPF (Low Pass Filter) and most importantly I am still working out giving me my working conditions what antenna i will be using. It does appear that I will probably use an HiEndFed on a vertical. More on that at another time. Winter is always a very quite time for me, but come the new year when the weather starts to improve I should have some more content. I am still very keen on posting videos of QSO's and alike.

17/12/17 - Now the weather is getting colder, my idea of going outside portable draws to a close. I almost have everything to get my shack ready for the NEW year, which means all my Radio communication can be performed inside. I would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas & New Year. See you in 2018......
