Hello visitors to my page! As you can see, I am located in Mooresville, NC just outside of Charlotte and adjacent to beautiful Lake Norman.

Originally from North Carolina, I have lived mostly in Southern and Northern VA with the exception of my 21 years in the US Air Force.
I got my first ham ticket in the early 80's and moved up through "Extra" class in the code days!
Started out in the Air Force working avionics on the F-4 Phantom, very nice aircraft. It even had tube radios back then!
After a few years of working in the communications and navigation shop I was offered an opportunity to go fly and I took it.

I went off to Tinker Air Force base after several schools and flew on the E-3A/B/C AWACS aircraft for 10 years. My time at Tinker took me all over the world and I really enjoyed it.
My official job on the aircraft was Instructor Airborne Communications Technician which gave me the opportunity to use some of the best equipment avaiable.
I operated and maintained VHF (AM and FM), UHF (voice and data), HF (voice and data), cryptographic equipment, SATCOM, and Tactical Data Links, among other things.

After AWACS I went off to the Joint Surveillance Target Attack RADAR System (Joint STARS) test team in Melbourne, FL.
Pretty much the same job on a much newer aircraft, although based on the same Boeing 707 as the AWACS. J-STARS also took me to
new places and presented new opportunities to learn new skills and operate new equipment.

Melbourne led to Warner Robins, GA for a few years and then off to a staff position at Langley AFB in Hampton, VA.
After retirement in 2001 I began to work as a contractor for the Air Force until moving up to my corporate headquarters in 2012.

I currently serve, in my new company, as one of the Enterprise Strategic Sourcing Category Managers where again I have had the opportunity to learn even more about the world of Information Technology, HR, Legal, Corporate Aviation, and Travel.

I am very fortunate that my wife, KV4SF, is into Amatuer Radio too! We not only enjoy radios but Mt Biking, camping, hiking, and working with our church.

73,

Brian
