Hello there!

Thanks for visiting my page. My name is Allan, I was born in Peru in a family of very active OA hams back in the 70's. Saw a lot of earthquake emergency comm ops in our living room, phone patching victims with their familiesy in the capital. Thirty years later, the sparks is on again.

I was licensed in Spain July 2013 as EA3HSO.

Main interests are QRO HF DXing, QRP and satellite work.

QTH is in Barcelona, Spain, with ocational operation in Mallorca (EA6) and Lima, Perú (OA4).

My main house rigs are a Kenwood TS-990 for and an Expert 1.3kFA linear for HF, and an Icom IC-910 H for sats and general V/UHF.
For travelling and field operation I use an Elecraft KX-3 with an Alex Loop Magnetic Loop and some wire antennas.
I use an FT-817D for mobile ops.

Main HF atenna is a G3TXQ 7 bander Hexbeam by MWOJZE (6-10-12-15-18-20.40 m) on top of a 12 meters Longpass crank-up mast, sitting on top of a 22 meter building on a small hill in downtown Barcelona.

For V/U sat work I use a pair WIMO X-QUADS, mounted in a separate push up mast with an azim/elev rotator and SSB Electronics pre-amps for each band.

My contesting callsign is
ED3T
mostly on SSB contests. QSL through EA3HSO.

Open for any short QSO or for a nice ragchewing session. Enjoy both.

73, hope to meet you soon in the waves!

Allan

I abide  (or really, really really try to abide) by the....

  • I will listen, and listen, and then listen again before calling.
  • I will only call if I can copy the DX station properly.
  • I will not trust the DX cluster and will be sure of the DX station's call sign before calling.
  • I will not interfere with the DX station nor anyone calling and will never tune up on the DX frequency or in the QSX slot.
  • I will wait for the DX station to end a contact before I call.
  • I will always send my full call sign.
  • I will call and then listen for a reasonable interval. I will not call continuously.
  • I will not transmit when the DX operator calls another call sign, not mine.
  • I will not transmit when the DX operator queries a call sign not like mine.
  • I will not transmit when the DX station requests geographic areas other than mine.
  • When the DX operator calls me, I will not repeat my call sign unless I think he has copied it incorrectly.
  • I will be thankful if and when I do make a contact.
  • I will respect my fellow hams and conduct myself so as to earn their respect.

My gear:

6 Bander Hexbeam from SP7IDX, 40m 1/2 wave Dipole, X-Quads for sats and V/U.

(That Hexbeam has seen some really nasty winds...no problems in two years)

Hexbeam + 40m 1/2 wave dipole on the back, V/U Wimo Quads in the foreground.

Finally, after years of searching, I managed to find a Collins S1 in mint condition. (yes I know, I changed the mains).

It's a homage to my late father's station (OA4GF) back in the 60's and 70's.
Very happy for the audio, the look, the smell, the memories and the great reports.
It puts around 80 watts without going crazy with the gain. Sometimes peaks up to 100w.

XYL designed the cabinet, it's chaos proof, it's EA3HSO proof.

P6/QRP in Palma de Mallorca.
