I have been operating a ham radio station since 1974 in Tokyo Metropolitan area. Before starting my ham operation, I had been enjoying BCL and SWL.
I mainly operated on 21MHz band with 5 elements full-size Yagi-Uda antenna up about 22 meter high on the self-supported tower and on 10MHz band with 7 elements full-size Yagi-Uda antenna up about 25m high on the self-supported tower. Those were all home-brew antennas as shown on the attached pictures.
Fo other bands like 80/40/20 meters, I operated with V-shape loop antenna and GP antenna.
My working condition was with YAESU FT-DX400 (FT-DX560) and Drake B-Line, T-4XB and R4B when I started my ham operation. Then, I have been using YAESU FT-107, FT-766-DX and KENWOOD 599 Lines and TS-511 transceivers.
Recently, I started a HamSphere program, a virtual QSO system using SDR(Software Defined Radio) and VoIP(Voice Over Internet Protocol) technologies.
I sometimes QRV on EchoLink with smart phones like iPhone and SONY's Android smartphones.
Today, it's very difficult to work on HF bands with big antennas and high radiation power in such populated area like central part of Tokyo where I live.
I am a government-cirtified Professional Chief Telecommunications Engineer. And, I have been R&D proffesional of mobile communication systems such as LTE, HSPA and other advanced mobile technologies.
I cmpleted my Ph.D. degree in telecommunication technologies and got Certified Chief Engineer License from the Japan's government.
My other hobbys are Judo (3 dan with black belt) and cooking.
