I became interested in ham radio when I was about 10 yrs old. My grandfather was an active ham since the early 50's. I got my novice ticket in 1975 at the age of 14. I was very active for a few years until my interest in girls became more important. Since then I have remained licensed and active to this day.  I passed my Extra exam about 20 yrs ago. I have been primarly a CW OP over the years. I'm 54 yrs old. I have 4 children ranging from 23-35 yrs of age. I'm married to a wonderful woman, but I haven't been able to get her interested in radio....yet. I work in sales to the 2-way radio industry .

My station presently consists of a Kenwood TS-450, LDG AT-100PRO Tuner,  RigBlaster Plus and many older VHF FM rigs. I use an Inverted Doublet @ 65ft for HF,  I work about 70% CW,20% PHONE and 10% DIGI modes. In my 40 years of hamming, I never owned an amplifier or commercial antenna for HF. Barefoot to a wire. Stringing new wires is one of my favorite parts of the hobby.

I recently built a couple "1-watters" and have been having fun with QRPp. I built a 9:1 UNUN attached a 41' radiator and threw it up in a tree. I also attach a 33ft counterpoise which I just throw out on the ground. I operate from my back deck with this set up. Worked my first 1 watt DX last night. Brazil on 40m. So far I'm running QRPp on 40 and 30m, Still working on the 20m.

I just picked up a Yaesu FT-857d. So now I can run QRP SSB. Only goes down to 5 watts, but that will have to do for now. I bought this to do some portable ops. Hopefully soon.

I've been Chasing NPOTA parks this summer. I'm up to around 170.
