Continuously licensed with the same call sign since 1960 [First as a Novice, now an Extra]. Also have the FCC General Radio Operators License.

Member of ARRL, eQSL (verified), Society of Broadcast Engineers, Electronics Technicians Association, Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, Louisville A.R.T.S., OOTC, QCWA, RCC and EPC. Former member of MENSA [Resigned because it is a very liberal organization even though it claims non-partisanship. Typical.] And I'm a member of the VFW and American Legion.

Born (1942) and raised in Chicago where I got the K9AAN call (1960). Enlisted and spent three years in the US Army Infantry (Sgt-E5), almost two years in Viet Nam (Advisory Team). Moved to do some engineering in Winona, MN for a couple of years. Then back to Chicago and completed a BS from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Engineering. Worked in the Chicago area then moved to Louisville KY in 1974, got married and stayed. At one time, I was fairly fluent in English, Polish, Latin and German with a smattering of Russian and Vietnamese. A big problem was that I would be conversing in one language and words from other languages would pop up! Not a problem any more because I haven't had to use anything except English for over 45 years so that's all I have left. "Use It or Lose It." Quite true. Funny thing, even if I can't recall enough to speak in those languages, I can still understand them when someone else speaks them as in movies!

Was an Electronics, Control Systems and Project Engineer for almost four decades. Also worked in/with mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, PLCs, computer control, electronic sensors & controls then went into teaching that stuff for about 20 years. At over 75, I am now fully retired. Just taking care of the wife, dog, house and hamming.

I have a wonderful wife, super grand-daughter and great dog. An author of several published articles on electronics topics and computer programming and a former small retail business operator with my wife.

Also, I was an "ORIGINAL member of the cast of GREASE". That is, I was in the same high school class (Taft High, Chicago, 1960) with Jim Jacobs that became his inspiration for the musical GREASE. Some names were changed, however, to protect the authors. And yes, the "Pink Ladies" really existed.

BTW, If you hear or see me calling a directional CQ, e.g. CQ DX or CQ ?? and you need to confirm KY for your WAS, please feel free to call me. I'm always happy to QSO and confirm KY for you.

May God treat us in the same way that we treat other people ... You think maybe he already is?
