First licensed as WB7WAY in Fallon NV, 1978 or so. Upgraded to KB7IJ, moved to NATTC Millington, TN for a few months... then off to KH2 land Guam Island from 1980 to 1983. Heavy contester, primarily 10M sgl op and 6M sgl op. Did ALOT of island hopping, some just for fun, most for military stuff.  KH0 Saipan, DU Phillipines, JA Okinawa, Truk , Ponape, Palau, Kwajalin, VQ9 Diego Garcia

From Guam the Navy sent me to NAS Dallas TX in 1983 for 5 years. From 1988 to 1991 The Navy seemed to think I was needed in  New Orleans.  Late 1991 to SEP 1995, back in NAS Dallas as they prepared to move basically the whole base to Ft Worth to the old Carswell AFB location. Rather than commute 40 miles I retired from the USN as a Senoir Chief Air Traffic Controller (E8).

Lightning strike in 97 forced me off air till June 2014.  New rotator is up and working. Next is antenna overhaul...  in progress.

UPDATE: June 2015    Antennas done, new 4218XL up for 2 and the old venerable Wilson M66 is refurbished and back up with new coax to both.  Playing primarily on 6 these days with digital modes mostly on meteor scatter and Es when it crops up.

UPDATE: MAR 2017  Brand new 7 el LFA going up with CC 4218XL above it. Feeding 6m  with 1/2 inch heliax.  Antenna is from Innoventennas.com and is tweeked for -45 db F/B. Which is perfect for my urban noise problems.  VERY impressed with its performance. But do keep in mind that I am comparing it to a 40+ year old Wilson M66 that had some problems.

For HF I am running barefoot with just a loaded dipole for 10-15-40. Its actually the driven element from a defunct TH6DXX and works surprisingly well. Have added 17 foot "whiskers to the ends of the 20m portion to get it down to 40m. Have also hung 1/4 wave slopers  for 17m and 12m from the feed point.  Have some space limitations but may try to do something for 80/160 maybe this winter.

Starting in March 2016 I am  trying to make a go of 2m EME, tough in a noisy urban setting. I have an estimated 13 db desense problem I am currently trying to fix.  Currently running 4xYU7EF  9 el yagis on 16 foot booms with only 100 watts till I can get rcv side up to speed.

Enjoying alot of success at very high angles of elevation in excess of 45 degrees.  Almost 60 QSO's and just under 50 init's, all on 100w out of the shack.  A half dozen of the larger stations in Europe have decoded me at 70w out. These antennas are VERY impressive.

Update: JULY 2016:  Have a new 4 pole BPF for 2m from OCICOM.COM . What an amazing looking item. Ralph Olds (  past owner of DCI Filters and current founder of OCICOM ) is what every customer service company should use as an example of how its done RIGHT.   Current thumbnail testing is promising, awaiting decent moon conditions in a week or so for acid testing.

Update:  AUG 2016:   Having scored a  Commander II ( 3cx800a7 just under 700w at full smoke CW out ) amplifier for 2m.  Success ratio on EME contacts has skyrocketed !    I still have huge noise problems and the BPF didnt help enough to justify the insertion loss anyway.  But on a good day, when Mr Faraday is napping, I see them, I work them.   So overall very pleased with the state of things here on 2m EME.

For operating CW Skimmer on 6m  I use a Funcube Pro connected to a crossed pair of H-Doublebays.  Normally a bi-directional antenna, crossing them with a single feed point gives a mildy cloverleaf shaped  pattern with approx 4 db omni gain in the Horizonal plane and works very well .  I have a scaled up version hanging in a tree on back lot line up about 35 feet for 10m. With a tuner the 10m antenna will radiate 14-30 Mhz with moderate efficiency below 28 mhz..

Now, if you think that antenna is a bit too wierd to work as a true gain omni.... Here is 40 hours of 6m listening thru a Fun Cube Pro +  and CW Skimmer with compilation by the Reverse Beacon Network.
