Welcome to my QRZ page!

If we've had a QSO more than likely it's been from my home QTH running my Icom IC-7300 and a 44' end fed wire @ 10'.  You read that right, it's not a typo, 10 feet off the ground.  I installed it that way as a test back in the late summer of 2016.  I went in the house and the first HF conatct ever was to France so I left it that way.  It's really become a quest just to see how well I can do with it.  I might not be the loudest station in the pileup but I'm having fun and it really says something about your station if you can hear me.  One of these days I may raise my wire up a little but for now, that's where it is.  Prior to starting any digital modes I made well over 2000 phone HF phone contacts with my end fed wire only 10 feet off the ground.  My furthest contacts have been to Australia and Japan so it does okay for me.

If I worked you from the mobile, I'm running an IC-7100 and a hamstick.

Modes = HF Phone, Satellite & FT8.  I also listen to a lot of Dstar.

I upload regularly to LotW, eQSL & QRZ.  Typically no longer than 1 week from QSO to upload.  I only log FT8 contacts that make it through a complete cycle in WSJTX.  If I don't see your 73 then I don't log the contact.

I’ve been interested in radio since I was a young kid with crystal radio trying to see what distant stations I could pull in late at night.  I’m just as fascinated now as I was back then, probably even more.  I have a degree in Electronics Technology and I'm employed as a Technology Director for a progressive dot-com company.  I've also worked a number of years in the television and movie industry as a sound recordist and camera operator.  I've worked on a handful of major motion pictures and over 15 television productions.  Hope to catch you on the air!

Here I am doing a little QRP (5 watts) using the Yaesu FT-817ND from my mobile.

Rare DX from the mobile with ZD7VC on St. Helena Island in the South Atlantic

Here's a little Bitx40 40m QRP rig that I put together.  Not a bad little radio for under $100 bucks!

This is my home brew 70W HF amplifier and multi-band filter board that I sometimes use with my FT-817ND
