Hello and thanks for stopping by my page. My name is David and I have been a ham operator since my best friend, Kenny Scruggs NX5U, got me interested back in 1988. My original call was KB5GHG and in 1989 I upgraded to Technician with the call N5NGM. I enjoyed being active in Amateur Radio up until I moved to the DFW area in the summer of 1999 for my current job as a police officer with the DFW Airport Department of Public Safety. I dropped out of the hobby for a little while, but not for too long. I upgraded to general and then to extra and have enjoyed getting back into the hobby. I am always amazed at how much has changed over the years and where Amateur radio is headed. I stay busy in the hobby with APRS, Skywarn, working with the Mansfield EOC, and helping with the Mansfield-Johnson Amateur Radio Service. If you live in the Mansfield area, please check out our website at WWW.WA5JRS.COM and stop by a meeting sometime.

My shack consist of all Kenwood radios. I currently have several TM-D710A's, a TM-742A,  a TS-590SG 70th, and an old RZ-1 for fun. I also have several Kenwood HT's and use one of my first Kenwood HT's (TH-77A)  as a feed for the Fort Worth 146.940 repeater (Tarrant county Skywarn / RACES). One of my TM-D710A is a dedicated APRS/Winlink station utilizing APRS-IS32 and RMS Express. All radios are back up by 12 volt batteries.

Again, thanks for stopping by and I look forward to chatting with you on the air.
