Thanks to anyone who looks me up,  please take a moment and sign my weblog, just press the button above the red Arrow and leave your call sign.  Thanks for the QSO if we made contact, if not thanks for stopping by.  de KG5RPZ

My Primary Log is N4FJP software, however I am a subscribed member to QRZ and combine those Logbooks about once a week.  I upload to Logbook of the World (LoTW).  I also Log via EQSL but I am not a member and only Log there as a courtesy to those who do use it.  I would appreciate anyone logging our QSO that is primarily an EQSL subscriber to return the courtesy and Log me via QRZ or LOTW as well.  I will return a paper QSL card to anyone that sends me one via the Postal Service.    Thanks and 73 to everyone I have had a the privledge to have a QSO with.

FT8 Operators - I use WSJT-X software and only log QSO's that run the full sequence of RRR on both ends as well as 73.  If you do not finalize the QSO by letting the program finish you will not be Logged by me.  It only takes a few more seconds to let the program finalize the QSO and the automation of the Logbook will process each contact.  Thanks for your understanding on this issue.

Hello, my name is Marlin Thompson I am a member of  ARRL as well as Louisiana ARES.  I am currently the Louisiana ARES Assistant Section Emergency Coordinator for Regions 4,5,6 Central and Southwest Louisiana.

My wife WB5EMT recently got her Technicians license and is now the Region 6 District Emergency Coordinator.  It's nice having a hobby we both enjoy together as well as being a part of an organization such as ARES to do our part to help our communities in the event of a Hurricane, Tornado or other form of natural disaster.      http://www.arrl.org/ares    http://www.laarrl.org/ss/

I am an Industrial Electrician who for the past 20 something years have always tinkered with various electronics from radio to computers and home automation.  I specialize in Industrial Process Automation, PLC controls, and Device Net systems as well as Voice Data Video systems.

I am also an avid Saltwater fisherman and enjoy going to the coastal wetlands of South Louisiana as well as the beaches of Cameron Parish and Galveston Texas for some often times much needed Saltwater Therapy.

I have some history with the 11 meter band, and enjoyed the USB/LSB DX back in those days.  Recently passed the Technician and General Class licenses, looking forward to exploring what Amature Radio has to offer.  Currently I have a Kenwood 710G 2 meter / 70cm dualband mobile unit installed in my 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.  Now working on my HF rig, for now I have a homebrew 1/2 wave 80 meter dipole with a RF air coil choke at the feed point, and a borrowed Icom-730 that I use to get on the HF bands.

I have since gotten into fabrication of various Antenna designs and ordered myself a Rigexpert AA-600 to help with my building process.  I enjoy building my own antennas, baluns, ladder line etc.  I dont see myself building a Radio due to cost effectiveness but I may dabble in building my own Amplifier at some point.  I find building stuff for Ham Radio use an enjoyable part of the Hobby, and I think it helps a person better understand how things work.  I look forward to putting my new Rigexpert AA-600 to tweak those hand made antennas.  The Black piece of bakelite is the apex for my 80 meter inverted V Dipole, that I made my own Ladder line for, as well as made my own baluns with two T-225-A Toroids one is 4:1 tied to a 1:1 downstream of the antenna.  So far so good antenna works on 20/40/80 and I have talked coast to coast, but I cant wait to put the Rigexpert on it to see where it actually resonates.

The last photos are of an internet beaming project to get the Saltgrass repeater up and running since we lost our internet connection at the repeater, I'm shooting 50mbs to and from the internet radios.  Works fine and we are glad to be part of the Saltgrass system, next is to shoot internet to another local repeater and get the Win system in use there.

If you have any questions or comments feel free to email me.  Below are a few various pictures of recent projects, from my Jeep 2 meter install, a 3D printed metallic mount for my display, and finally some pictures of a stainless steel mount to beam internet from my house to one of our local repeaters that is 1700' from my QTH. The Radios used for the internet are Ubiquitus  Nanostation M5's.
