A note to those on digital.  Because the bands have had low propagation, I have been concentrating on digital.  To those on FT8, JT65, and JT9, please ensure that you close your sequence with a RR73 or 73.  I also will close my sequence with a 73.  This will avoid any ambiguity as to the validity of a QSO.  No 73, no confirmation.  Note: a weak signal may mean too low power.

I am a retired project engineer/manager with a BScChE, Cal '69.  Over the years I worked for Bechtel Corporation, Jacobs Engineering, and IC-Engineering.  My main interests, other than my wife, are competitive cycling, motor racing, astronomy, amateur radio, photography, and the PCA.

I was interested in electronics back in the early '60s, but went on to other things. My wife rekindled my interest in electronics when she suggested that I attend a Technician class so I could use a 2M/70cm HT for EMCOM purposes. After I received my general and installed my HF rig, she may have regretted that suggestion when she saw the antenna - but she accepted it. I have been licensed since July 2013.

My rig consists of: Alinco DM-330MV power supply, Yaesu FTdx3000 transceiver, Elecraft KAT500 tuner, and Elecraft KPA500 amplifier.  The antenna is a GAP Titan-DX for the 80M through 6M bands.

For community EMCOM work I use a Yaesu FT-7900R and an Alinco DR-235T.  Antennas consist of a 2-band J-pole, a Dr. Fong DBJ-1, and a home brew tri-band dipole.

I am not particularly interested in contests, but I enjoy DX, rag chews, and meeting other hams.

QSL through eQSL.cc or SAE (no return stamp needed).  Confirm QSO via QRZ.com and LotW (weekly uploads).

Thank you for visiting.
