Don't laugh... I'm 60 years old and have only been an amateur radio operator since October of 2016. I got my technician class license then and have since earned my General and Extra class tickets. I  am a member of the Central Alabama Amateur Radio Club in Calera Alabama. I am a Volunteer Examiner there and we do testing at our meetings on the first Wednesday night of every month.  I am also a member of the Shelby County Amateur Radio Club. I use a Yaesu FTM-3200 as a home base station with a Diamond X300a up about 40ft. I use an FTM-100 Yaesu in the car. No HF for me yet, but I'm chompin' at the bit.

I use a Tytera MD-380 DMR radio and an ICOM ID-51a D-star radio. I use these with a SharkRF OpenSpot at home, and the

OpenSpot and TPLink router tethered to a wifi hotspot when I travel.

My wife and I live in Helena, not too far south of Birmingham Alabama. We have two grown children and one granddaughter. My son and his wife served in the US Navy. My daughter graduated from the University of Alabama.

I'm a big Bama fan, hence the RTR in my call sign.

I'm also a photographer, you can see my work here...  http://www.rwaltonphotos.com
