MØLXQ :: Bromsgrove, England
Grid: IO82xh WAB: SO97 ITU Zone: 27 CQ Zone: 14

Hello and thank you for looking at my QRZ.com profile! You're probably here because we've had a QSO or you have heard me on the air.

I was always interested in radio and electronics as a child and I obtained my first amateur radio licence in November 2014 and have held a full licence as MØLXQ since July 2015.

I am located in the town of Bromsgrove, a small town with a population of around 30,000 in the county of Worcestershire in central England. Worcestershire is well known for its sauce of the same name which is still made in Worcester, around 15 miles south west of Bromsgrove. The county is also said to have been J. R. R. Tolkien's inspiration for The Shire in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and was home to the composer Sir Edward Elgar.

My radio interests include SSB phone and digital modes on HF having recently become interested in DX using FT8. I use a locally produced DX Commander vertical aerial for 40m - 10m and a long wire for 160m - 60m. Whilst these aerials obviously limit my performance on the HF bands, I enjoy the challenge of using a modest set up using up to 100W. I also enjoy using the 2m and 70cm bands and am active using D-STAR and DMR using a hotspot as well as local repeaters.

After becoming fully licensed in the UK, I turned my attention to obtaining a US amateur radio licence. In 2015, I passed my technician and general class exams and became licensed as KEØGGA. I then went on to pass my extra class exam in 2017.

I am a member of Wythall Radio Club and Midland Amateur Radio Society although working shifts often makes it difficult to attend meetings on a regular basis.

Away from the radio, I am a frontline NHS paramedic based in Birmingham, the second largest city in the United Kingdom. I also enjoy photography and messing around with computers including traditional dial-up/telnet BBS, programming and graphic design.

I am keen to receive physical QSL cards via the bureau (RSGB) and promise to reply to all cards I receive - if you would prefer to exchange cards directly, please contact me by e-mail for my address. I usually upload to eQSL very quickly and also LoTW. I would be grateful if you could confirm QSOs using QRZ.com logbook also.
